NBC's Boomtown will find its way to DVD as a 6-disc set on July 20th, complete with cast and crew audio commentary and more.
liked this show when it aired, so if its not too much, i'll pick it up

Hmmm... I must have been in a cave because I have never heard of this show (I rarely watch network TV). I am getting into watching series on DVD though. Anyone care to summarize it or point me towards a description and/or review?

Fantastic show. It's a police show, sorta like Law and Order, but the hook was that they would tell the story non-linearly. sometimes you would see the same event from several different perspectives. Sometimes the non-linear stories would intersect (think Pulp Fiction). After a while, they sorta quit doing the non-linear storylines (I'm guessing at the request of NBC as J6P was probably getting too confused)
Very well acted, especially by Neal McDonough, who should have won an Emmy last year, IMO. It was created by Graham Yost, who wrote and directed Band of Brothers and brought a few of its cast members (including McDonough) over to this show.

for "season 2", they showed the first 2 episodes, cancelled it because of low ratings( it was on friday at 10, hmmm wonder why) then nbc in december right around christmas, showed the last 4.

ah shit, might just be season 1 they are releasing. on 5 discs they could easily fit all 18 first season episodes and a handfull of bonus features right?

TVShowsonDVD reported that it's only the S1 episodes (18 in all) and that it's a 5, not a 6 disc set. The remaining 6 episodes I guess (hope) would be released later. It looks like they're pulling a Sex & the City move by dividing up episodes that don't need to be divided.

Bad news - sounds like only S1.

I think we'll be lucky if we ever seen the 6 from S2 on DVD.

Is there anyone that likes this show a lot, but not 'Law And Order"? I am just wondering since I hate Law And Order (all 8 different ones), but I am interested in this show.
I only ask since someone compared Boomtown to Law and Order.

I find it hard to believe that someone would compare Boomtown to Law & Order. I love them both but I think they are very different shows. Law & Order is half-cops and half-DAs, so Law & Order is far more procedural in its approach than Boomtown. Boomtown is almost all-cops. The format of most of the Boomtown episodes is very different from Law & Order. You also get more inside the character's personal lives in Boomtown.
