HELP NEEDED!! Shelving and/or racks

Ok, here is the issue. It's a multi-pronged question, and simply put...I need non-custom solutions for nicer (but inexpensive) furniture.

1. I have a DVD Collection that exceeds 900 DVDs. I need a shelving/ storage system that looks somewhat nice to store these. I anticipate my collection reaching 1000 and then stopping, so storage at that capacity is ideal.

2. I have a 55" WS TV and the following components, that I would like to look nice: Receiver, DVD Player, Xbox, Playstation 2. I also have a large center (all speakers Boston), and 2 fronts.

3. In my bedroom, I have a 27" flat screen samsung, DVD Player and receiver (plus the same fronts and center). I need something nicer than Best Buy, but no more expensive.

4. Also looking for a place to get nice desks, I have specific needs, but I am looking for something fairly specific.

Thanks in advance,
Philip

not sure how thick 1000 dvd's are but it'd be cool to have them along closer to the ceiling and wrap around like a train would in kid movies eh?

Definitely check out the HT & Collection Pics thread. You may see something you like and can ask where it was purchased.

I checked that out, and while there were several that could hold 700 or so, none that held 500 or so and looked like pieces of furniture. These are going in my den, not a dedicated theater room.

something similar to this:

Racks and stands had some nice tv cabinets, anyone know where I can get them for less $$?

This is one of the funniest things I've read today - I laughed out loud when I read it.

I just bought this one:
http://www.storeyourmedia.com/cd-612w.aspx

Good points:
It's made out of solid oak and looks it. Other racks made out of veneered MDF are a lot cheaper and they look it.
It's very well made (dovetailed joints)
The hardware is very strong
Nice Mission style
Cabinet style: protects the disc from little three year-olds.

Bad points:
Very expensive per disc stored (300 bucks for about 300 discs)
Cabinet style: some people prefer open
The thing weighs a ton, it's difficult to move.
