Netflix removed Chariots of Fire from my queue...
Any idea what caused the following email from Netflix?
The movie
Chariots of Fire(1981)
has been removed from your Netflix Rental Queue. Unfortunately,
we will no longer offer it for rental on our web site.
We realize this is disappointing and want to reassure you
that we only remove movies in unusual circumstances.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you find
many other movies to enjoy on our web site.
Thank you,
The Netflix Team

It is an OOP title. Hopefully that means a newer release is in the works. The current DVD is full screen with a bad transfer. Warner should give Chariots of Fire the 2 disc special edition treatment.

Personally, I'd be happy with a good OAR anamorphic transfer.

So are they legally obligated to remove a title once it goes OOP even though its a rental? It's unfortunate since it gives people a chance to see older releases that might have had features that are no longer on the newer versions.

Smart move of them to pull OOP discs from renting.

I see that they still carry the original Universal Monster titles that went OOP. I wonder why they never pulled those discs if they were worried about theft.
And anyone ever notice that Netflix has their own dvd label on some of the movies? Do they have a special deal with the studios to mass produce a bunch of discs with the NetFlix label on them?
