Just got my Highlander Season 4 set today.

Played the first episode and the PQ is quite bad. Almost looks like a VHS transfer. With my Flatscreen's Velocity Modulation turned on High, it has some serious "VHS" grain and edge enhancement around on-screen text.

But wait.

Does it not include "the most amazing special features ever put on a DVD"?

I mean, it got 4 and a half stars out of 5! It's supposed to be the "greatest DVD collection of all time"!

You do realize that the velocity modulation tends to cause those kind of issues. Try turning that feature off for a smoother image. Also you may have your sharpness setting to high.

Yeah I know, but as it just happens, it apparently was just the first episode. The rest (at least so far) are back to the normal PQ for the series. The first episode was filmed in Scotland and Vancouver and for some reason the cameras they used for that episode must've been subpar. Looked like 16mm stuff.

I just had a chance to watch the first ep too and it does look poor. If you watch the supplements for that episode they do go into various problems they had shooting.
