Am I the only one who liked this? I love Time Travel movies and this was great fun, the fight scenes at the end were fantastic. Not an all time classic, but a fun sci fi time travel B-Movie

Nope, I posted above I enjoyed it as well. 2 people thank you.

The movies was not as bad as people have been saying. It does have some holes in it, but it was enjoyable to watch (I also love time travel movies) and the video qaulity on my HDTV looked very good.
The making of Doc looked great also, you can see how hard it is to make any movie. Worth a rental, thats be about it. |
Definitely rent it first, i'm glad i did. Not good enough to buy. Don't buy it.

I dont know what the big deal is about this movie. Maybe it is that I never read the book, but I liked the movie. Sure it had its weak points but it was still an enjoyable movie. At no time did I find myself wanting to turn it off unlike the core. So if you are not so sure about this, do what I did, rent it and make up your own mind.

The only people who really HATED this movie are those who read the book. Everyone else I've talked to who saw it (including me) thought it was okay. Definitely a rental, but it was entertaining.
If you want a bad Crichton movie, try Sphere or Congo. |
How does it compare to Time Machine (2003) which I REALLY liked. Is it better or far worse?

Damn, found this on the used shelf and already picked it up. Once I trade it in the net cost will be no more than a rental but I have so many unsen movies I hate to waste my time on a stinker

Both my wife and I enjoyed Timeline, not near as bad as most say, but it's not quite as good as The Time Machine.

Haven’t read the book. Liked the movie.
Sure, they wouldn’t be speaking modern English in the 1300s; and sure, the swordplay was the usual unrealistic theatrical Hollywood crap, but if you can look past stuff like that, I found it to be a rather entertaining “popcorn” movie. Especially if you enjoy either time travel or the Medieval period. The acting and dialog are both somewhat mediocre, but I thought it acceptable given the story at hand. I found this film better than the Time Machine remake, but I am admittedly biased in that I enjoy anything involving the Medieval and/or Renaissance time periods. Unwilling to fork over $20 for it, but I might buy it for $10 if I were to run across it at that price. |
no. no. no.
This movie was terrible. The ads were misleading. NEVER cast Paul Walker in a Michael Chrichton adaptation. It ALWAYS leads to trouble. |
I'm a Gerry Butler fan (Dracula 2000, Attila, Tomb Raider 2...) I purchased the movie used just for him. You should not have to pay over $10 for it. I don't get much new anymore. So many people are buying DVDs these days that the reseller market is growing very fast. I found 'Kill Bill' and 'Master & Commander' there the weekend after its release.

I didn't read the book and still didn't care for this movie. What a waste of time and talent (Donner). I liked the Core better, but that's not saying much.
|
I liked the book, but I said to someone that the movie is so dull I think the theatre's ceiling is more interesting than the movie itself.
Well, that was slightly exaggerated, but it's quite true. ;) |
A query for those who bought the widescreen version DVD (like myself)...did you get an insert? I know it shouldn't be a big deal and companies like MGM and Disney/Buena Vista have started to release movies without inserts, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't buy an incomplete copy. Thank you!

I loved this book, but after hearing all the bad reviews I was unsure how the movie was going to be. I rented it from netflix and thought it was pretty good. It won't win any awards but it was entertaining for me.

The book is fantastic. The movie is lame, which surprised me since Richard Donner directed. Definately a rental (at most).

I just watched this again with a friend, and I must retract my earlier statement that it sucks. The film is not as bad as I remembered. I may have been tired when I first saw it. It is a bad film, but it doesn't "suck" as I stated earlier. It has some decent special effects, however, the plot is weak and the acting bad. I still can't recommend buying it blind.
