No thanks, Sony. I'll be sticking with my R1 3-disc set. The DTS option isn't worth another $20 and a triple-dip. They should've just offered this one up with the original release. The R3 is a Superbit Deluxe and will probably end up cheaper than this release.

LAME.

Until I get the strength to double-dip to the 3-disc SE, I perfectly fine with my bare-bones edition.

I have the three disc version. Although the extras are, of course, very good, I doubt I'll be watching them again. Also, considering how little I paid for my copy, I just might have to get the Superbit version.

Since I view Superbit as a silly marketing gimmick, I won't be buying this. Why would anyone who owns the marvelous 3-disc edition?

Wait... so they're offering a superbit release. WITHOUT extras. Even though there's an R3/R1 from Korea with the same transfer, dts sound AND extras.

Are... are they serious?

should I wait or should I get the 3-disk now??

Get the 3-disc set. The extras are great. Superbit is a joke.

I'll probably pick it up for the DTS track alone, if it is for sale cheap. I already have the 3 disc set, but I wouldn't mind a DTS track to go along with everything else.

Well, usually I would agree, but with the extras on this, which basically laid out the event in historic detail and chronology, I found them extremely helpful to follow what's happening in the film. The film follows the events almost exactly with very few swayings from historic fact.

I have the R3/R1 from Korea already. I never bought the single disc version or the 3-disc. I rarely buy new releases from Tri-Star just for this reason to.

Already have the 3-disc. NO SALE on needless re-releases. Sony/Columbia should be ashamed for trying to pull this.

You're lucky since you haven't picked up any version yet. If someone can verify that the R3 Superbit Deluxe is actually R0, I would highly suggest that one. Since you get all the goodies, DTS PLUS the soundtrack CD (making it a four-disc set) for the same price you can get the barebones R1 SB.

I have the R3 SuperBit Deluxe version. I think the transfer is slightly better than the single disc version that I originally purchased. And the DTS track is, IMO, more dynamic than the Dolby track.

I purchased my R3 Superbit Deluxe from KoreanDVDs Black Hawk Down Superbit Deluxe
It took about 10 days to arrive, if I remember correctly. And the price was very reasonable. There is a censorship warning on the DVD details page, but there is no censorship at all.

My player is a Panasonic XP-30 and it plays on that. It is not a region free player. I think it is safe to assume that the set is either region 0 or region 1/3.

Is there a program/way to read the disc and have it tell you what region it is encoded for?

Can't comment on the R1 3-Disc set, haven't viewed that one.
