Tough call. MGM doesn't have a problem putting out unrated material, and even mislabels it on occasion ("Swamp Thing" and "Countess Dracula/Vampire Lovers"). But this movie is one they acquired from Polygram, so I suppose it's possible they could only have the rights or master to the r-rated cut.

Well why not compare the running time of the R & Unrated verison to what is listed for the dvd?
Then even if it says R rated, you will know which version is really is..since MGM does releaed unrated stuff from time to time with 'R' ratings on the package.
I have never seen the film, but have been meaning to for years...unrated of course,so how good is the film..& is it really hot unrated?

Well I checked dvdempire & it says the dvd is 104 minutes.
Is that the R or Unrated version?
A video store here used to have both versions & I always looked at each running time. But that was years ago,so I forgot if the R was 100 or 104 minutes & the unrated was 104 or 108 minutes. So please someone let me know.
If it is the R rated version, then I am very disappointed with MGM. First Death Wish 2,now this.

All I'm really looking for is the scene where she gets up and walks to the bathroom, turn back included. (I actually have a superb MPEG of it, but a DVD of the whole film would be better.)

Well, I still hope that MGM goes the Blown Away route here but my vhs copy states the Unrated cut as running 114 minutes. As for the film itself, it's a wonderfully malevolent little story with great perfomances by the two leads. The unrated cut is quite a bit hotter in content.

Well that is what is confusing me with the running time. Now that I think of it,the R version used to state 110 minutes on the VHS if I remember correctly.
But VHS sometimes includes wrong lengths alot,or also added the previews in with the running time.
So it would be great if the 104 minute version is uncut. It will be an extreme disappointment if it is not.
Speaking of an MGM rating screw up. They advertised Johnny Be Good as the uncut R rated version previouslly available on video. Yet it was actually the PG-13 theatrical cut which deletes the nudity and language!
So please keep us informed what version is on the dvd. I want to see this uncut only!
Does anyone know what version is aired on the movie channels? It seems to be on quite abit, but I've never had the time to view it.

Does the R-rated version still have Madchen Amick's full frontal nude scene? That's the main selling point as far as I'm concerned.

Actually the cut version (at leat the one available here in denmark) has one shot a Amick topless during the first sex scene that isn't in the unrated one.
The unrated version however has additional scenes.

I've just seen a set of vidcaps that are new (and I can't believe they are from any other source than the new DVD) that show her scene where she walks to the bathroom and turns around.
This is the version that I've always seen, and while it may be R-rated, it's still quite good. I would like to see the oft-discussed full version, but I think I'll give this one a shot in the meantime.

I held off buying the R-rated version since it sounded like an unrated version is on the way.
Yesterday, I got a screener copy and noticed on the hub of the disc that it said "unrated". Maybe they always do this for screeners?

Okay, I got my copy today, and unlike the execrable release of Death Wish 2 that MGM pawned off on us, this one contains the version that I have always seen, with the FFN promenade intact.
I would like to seee the unrated version one day, but this is the film I've always seen and wanted for a long time on DVD.
