Xanadu OOP?
According to DVDAficionado, Xanadu is officially out of print. Does anyone know if it is actually out of print. And if it is, does that mean a better version with possible extras will be coming out eventually?

I just wonder why anyone would want a better version of this movie.
Not intending to threadcrap here, but I have personally always considered this an unmitigated disaster, and find it hard to believe a special edition of this would be warranted, and indeed wanted.
Obviously you are a fan, and I don't intend to ridicule or belittle you in any way - if you like the film good luck to you.
Is anyone else out there waiting for a better version of this?

Olivia Newton-John
But an actress she was not. As she also proved in Two Of A Kind...

9 merchants have it listed for sale according to the price search function of DVDTalk.
So, I'd say even if it IS OOP, it's still widely available!

Yeah, Universal officially listed this as OOP about 6 months ago. It's still pretty widely available, likely because it was never a huge seller to begin with -- stores still have old stock.
I haven't heard any plans to re-do this, and I can't think of any upcoming film where this would make a good tie-in. If you want it, grab it now while it's cheap.

You get out of it what you put into it. If you're looking for Gone With the Wind, you won't find it. If you expect a light-hearted, bubble gum movie with OUTSTANDING music, than this is it.
Granted, it's not Grease, but it still holds a very special place in my heart.

Thanks for the heads-up on this one. It's one of those 'guilty-pleasure' movies for me. I saw it way too many tiimes on cable when I was young and cable only had 10 movies total to run. Combine that with a boring summer vacation, and even the worst of movies can become a nostalgia-inducing pleasure through sheer repetition.
I'll pick it up now...

I saw 2 copies at Best Buy the other day. It's an uneven movie but I'm an ELO fan. I was always curious how the soundtrack sounded on a nice system...

I'm the only heterosexual teenage male who owns a copy of Xanadu in his DVD collection. Just remember that you guys.
Xanadu is an god-awful film, but it fits into the category that "it's so bad it's good." It also helps that the film has a great soundtrack (what can I say, I dig the ELO).

Gotta show love for Olivia! I get raggeds on ocnstantly about having this title in my collection. Staight , 30ish. What's not to love, cheesy 80's fashions, roller skating, awesome ELO music, Don Bluth animation, The Tubes, and the aformentioned Olivia. She is still a fantasy, even today!

I have always loved Olivia and have seen her 4 times in concert. She will always be beautiful to me. I can honestly say because of her looks and voice Xanadu is in my top 5 movies of alltime.

Sorry to bump an old thread.
I came across this site a couple years ago I think:

What's really great about this review is that it was posted back in '99, but the comment section (at the end of the review) is STILL getting new posts!
Happy to own this DVD. I especially like the openning with ELO and Olivia and the other cute Muses.

This movie rules! The music alone is enough to keep your heart pumping! Instead of complaining about Olivia's acting (which I feel is fine), how about complaining about the real disaster of the movie, that hideous looking leading man they stuck her with, Michael Beck (who, while looking and acting great in THE WARRIORS, was oh so out of place in this movie).
