Before it finally got re-released, they kept teasing us with Weird Al's Complete Video Collection. 2 of my orders got cancelled since they jumped the gun early.

Well it's buena vista. No mirmax, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was unrated.

Ummm Buenvista is apart of Disney & Miramax.

So the fact that they are releasing an unrated dvd is strange. Of course, what if it is a gimmick & this unrated version is & never was NC-17 worthy?

Then again, what previous few directors cuts they have released like Heavenly Creatures. They got rerated. So this 'may' be good news.

I would love for an unrated 16.9 Scream to be released on dvd. The R version has a shitty soundmix compared to the great loud as hell frightening intense original mix as on the unrated dvd.

The regular edition shows at 91 minutes and the unrated at 93 minutes. Maybe it's 2 more minutes of Lauren Graham hotness

Yes, and so is touchstone, so is ESPN, and so is ABC. Disney owns a lot. they like to keep the names apart for a reason. Nightmare before christmas was released under Touchstone because disney felt it wasn't "disney presents" worthy.. either that or it might be too scary for the younger crowd. Disney likes to mix it up like that.

I'll gladly take the 2 more minutes of lauren graham. But this "unrated" as julie would suggest is nothing more than a Unrated version of a film that never was NC-17 worthy and could fall under the "Gimmick Unrated" group of dvd's that have graced dvd shelves in the past as a marketing ploy.

The releases date is 6-22

I understand the whole "Gimmick-Rated" releases, but My Boss' Daughter (A Disney Sub-Studio Release) was called "The R-Rated Edition" instead of "Unrated Edition" and if any movie would have made sense being called Unrated it's a stupid Teen Sex Comedy (I believe that genre invented the concept)

For what it's worth http://www.filmratings.com lists the following:

Bad Santa - The Director's Cut (2004)
Buena Vista Home Entertainment
R Rated R for pervasive language, strong sexual content and some violence.

Interesting. I guess it is a very good question on wheter there is going to be an unrated edition.

Buena Vista is closer in Disney name than Miramax, so they wouldn't release an NC-17 or Unrated cut.

One thing about the DVD, don't expect a lot of extras. They actually fired the director Terry Zwigoff and brought in Todd Phillips (of OLD SCHOOL) to shoot the ending. Zwigoff wasn't too happy working on the film.

I wonder why this wasn't announced when Bad Santa itself was announced. Now I have an Amazon preorder that I may need canceling.

Not true, horror movies had it way before stupid Teen Sex Comedies. I'd agree, though, that stupid Teen Sex Comedies popularized it.

Yes, and so is touchstone, so is ESPN, and so is ABC. Disney owns a lot. they like to keep the names apart for a reason.
That's true, but the "reason" has nothing to do with "ability of one sub-branch to release unrated films". Disney's stated policy is that none of their sub-companies can release unrated films. Miramax is the one that comes up against the most problems with it because Miramax is the one that releases the most movies that would be NC-17 or unrated to start with; Disney doesn't generally release movies that even come close, under any of its banners.

They actually fired the director Terry Zwigoff and brought in Todd Phillips (of OLD SCHOOL) to shoot the ending.
That's true, but I was under the impression that when the new ending tested badly also, they went back to the old ending. Or something to that effect. I knew he was fired, but I had heard that he was then brought back in. (I have also heard that one of the Coen brothers said, "This is why we never work for Miramax" regarding Bob Weinstein firing Terry Zwigoff.)

I'm gonna guess that dvdempire jumped the gun with the Unrated label... I'll bet it's going to be a R-Rated Director's Cut... IMO

It was called the R-Rated Edition because it was submitted to the MPAA and received an R rating.

To call My Boss' Daughter "unrated" would be a lie.

Unrated versions are not submitted to the MPAA, therefore truly "unrated"

It's not a gimmick if they chose one or the other, but actually a description of the process that film version went through.

That's interesting, I never knew Terry was fired.

Looks like the release is unrated... and with a stupid title. I'll still pick this up though.

I'm sure that we'll see this sometime in the future. QT has enough pull at miramax to get anything he wants, and they wouldn't risk losing their crown jewel director over something like this. Everyone makes a big deal about no NC-17 level unrated cuts coming from them, but it will happen.
