I have a question, and I know its been asked but I keep finding conflicting answers all over the internet.
Are the movies being released in this set a NEW special edition version of the films, or are they exactly the same as the special editions that have been out on VHS for several years now?
Thanks for the info.

their the same movies...no major plot points changed...story and characters remain the same...its all just a spruce up to make it flow better with the PT...because after all it is just a 6-Part movie...

This was never filmed as one movie; and no matter what Lucas does it will never flow seemlessly. You can't take movies filmed in the 70's with a different acting style and dialogue and match them to flow seamlessly with something flimed in 2002.
If he really wants a 6 part movie, he should RE-FILM episodes 4-6. That is the only way it will truely work. It would be interesting.

DVD Talk Legend
Since the set is going to be pretty cheap I ordered it. I already recorded my LDs of the original trilogy to DVD-R (and my LD player still works great) so I will have the option of watching the original trilogy for some time to come. I'm buying the new set for the extras though. I've never watched episode I or II again after seeing them in theaters and I doubt I will watch the SEs either since I really don't care if the movies blend with the horrible new trilogy. I'm curious about listening to the commentaries, but will probably just record the audio to Minidisc and listen to it at work.

Deleted, because I don't want this thread to fall into the same "new trilogy sucks, Greedo shoots first, Lucas sucks" crap that every other Star Wars thread becomes. This thread is about the DVD release of Star Wars. - Static
