I can't believe you guys aren't jumping all over this. A big 3-disc set and all there is, is people complaining. Very sad. And again, anyone who is complaining about the price obviously doesn't buy Criterions.

I personally thought Monster was the best film of 2003.

...although I wouldn't put Mystic River as the best film of 2003. That honor goes easily to 21 Grams in my opinion. But I still loved Mystic River and I can't wait to pick this one up.

Going with the 3 DVD edition. I love the movie and the score, so this one is a no brainer. They really should offer a two disc version, though. If I remember correctly, there was not a whole lot of score in the movie (mostly a lot of slight alterations of the incredible theme), so I wonder what the score cd is like. I loved the theme, but I remember it was played quite a lot in the movie. Still, looking forward to getting it.

Good movie, but I don't think it warrents a buy (especially a 3 Disc). I would get it just for the great acting in it, but I have many other movies I want to get for this reason before Mystic River.

I'm down for the deluxe edition (I buy very few DVDs anymore, instead depending on netflix).
I've passed over quite a few $30 movie-only Criterions. They often come out in R2/R4 with better transfers at a comparable price.
And I want the score.
My only concern is with the commentary--will its inclusion lower the bitrate of the film.

I thought the music was 'eh' and I have zero interest in the soundtrack. So, for me, the $40 price tag is a rip and an unfortunate pattern that we're starting to see. I ain't paying it.

Saw it in the theater, was thoroughly unimpressed. Expected much more from Eastwood and a cast like this. Horribly contrived screenplay. Will rent to give it another whirl, but I don't plan on buying it. I'm also bothered by the "$40 MSRP SE" trend.
And this was one of those very rare years that the Academy actually got it RIGHT.
