It is indeed a false rumor.

I'd imagine the demand for this disc is greater than normal right now considering the remake of Dawn of the Dead is in theaters and the dvd release of the original Dawn. And companies probably don't keep a large inventory on-hand of the Millenium Edition, so it's not surprising if many stores are out of stock.

This was a tough find for me even when it was new, so I wouldn't take that alone as an indication of OOP.
I've rarely seen it in my local B&M's even where they carry the other Millenium Editions. I guess it gets lost among all the versions.

I got my copy from DDD last week and finally watched it last night. The transfer is outstanding. I've never seen the film look this good. The DD5.1 track was pretty good too. I haven't gone over the extras yet but it looks like there is plenty there. Highly recommended.

As for the Millenium Edition, I have a question; does it have the same transfer as the (oop?) Collector's Edition from Elite? That's the one I have, and I was wondering if it's worth upgrading to the ME. And if the transfer is the same, do the additional extras make it worth a purchase?

Yes, the ME is the one you want! Avoid that 30th Anniv. like a colony of lepers!

caiman - Same transfer as the OOP Elite version... Only difference is a 5.1 remix and the extras. I don't have the ME, the old Elite is good enough for me, so I can't comment on the extras being worth it or not.

Those of you who got this recently from DDD, did it take a while for them to get it in stock? I ordered mine on 3/14 and it still shows out of stock. I've been itching to get this so I can have myself a Dead marathon of all 3 movies.

Mine too is still on backorder from DDD...I guess there is a high demand for it because of Dawn of the Dead.
Edit: I just checked my DDD account, I order mine the same day (3/14) and had a ship date of 3/24, 2 days ago, so it should be shipped anytime now

I bought the ME right when it was released, and since then I have never seen another copy in store. Seemed to me like the OOP scare was legit.
Anyway, great disc, watched it again a few nights ago.
