X2: Buy now or wait for 2.5?

Given the success of X2 and the inevitability of X3, should I buy X2 now or wait for X-Men 2.5 (assuming they repeat the X-Men double-dip)?

I wouldn't assume that. The original X-Men release was pretty sparce and warranted a re-release. X2 however is pretty well packed. Even though they re-released Spiderman, there is nothing additional on it that isn't promotional fluff for SM2. I think you are safe getting X2.

DavisDVD.com says that both X-Men 1.5 and X2 will be getting price reductions on 5-25 to $14.98, so both should able to be found for around ten dollars each.

Yep, X2 is a pretty comprehensive package, and a well-done one at that. I was just go for it and enjoy it now instead of wait for something that will probably never materialize.

Interesting. I've been holding off and waiting for 2.5, the price drop is definitely a good news.

I was going to pick up X2 at Blockbuster pre-viewed for $12.99, but I think I'll hold off knowing about the upcoming price drop.

a price drop warrants a pick up, but Fox will probaby rerelease X2 (or even 1.5) in a future tie-in for X3; perfect cash injection technique used over and over again.

I don't see an X2 rerelease, if any, for at least another year. Just buy it now.

I'm pretty happy with the X2 release. I can't see myself double dipping on this one. To be honest I found the extra's to be a bit boring, way too much talking.

There will surely be a re-release of X2 or "2.5" (something ridiculous to that effect). Studios are always doing this to tie in the next movie. However, I doubt the transfer will look or sound any better.

In the Usual Suspects commentary, Bryan Singer apologized for the two releases of X-Men (1 and 1.5) and said that they'd do it right the first time for X2. So there probably won't be a X2.5.

Will the double-pack also drop in price? If so, does anyone know what the new price will be?

I don't see them releasing an X2.5 at all. They better not...

Fox might not release a 2.5, but they will probably release a single disc edition while taking the current version off the market. THis would explain why there will be a $10 price drop on a title that will have been available for only 6 months.

I also hope they don't release a 2.5, since I'm planning on finally getting x2 through that p/v sale at blockbuster sometime soon.

Hmmm, let's see.... X2 has anamorphic widescreen, 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound, and a ton of extras....all I can say is....WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? A personalized signed copy by the entire cast and crew?

A different cut of the movie, perhaps?

I just re-read a review of the X-2 DVD and remembered one of the reasons I didn't buy it the first time around--it includes an anti-drug public service announcement. I have no interest in supporting that kind of bullshit.

I think the studios could get some of you guys to buy anything. They could release 12 versions of 1 dvd and some would buy all 12 versions just to be buying them. Kinda sad, but kinda funny...

"You thought X2: 11.5 had it all, just wait until the 12th edition, X2: Bryan Singer is Your Daddy Edition, featuring a brand new x-men coloring book w/ free crayons"

Yes, clearly. Anyone who opposes drug-war propaganda must be a crackhead. Well done.
