Cool surprise with Robotech Remastered Vol. 2!!
Just got mine from DDD today...it came with a mini Roy Fokker Veritech!!!
Are all of these like this? Did Vol. 1 come with one and I missed it?

Actually, it would be cool to get Rick's veritech, or many even a mini-SDF1.

I canceled my order with amazon because of many negative reviews. They say the video isn't really remastered.
What do you think ? is there any improvement upon the previous DVD editions?

According to the end credits this video has been remastered by Animeigo, the company that put out the deluxe Macross set two years ago. I've read that the video on this isn't quite as good because, in large part, ADV has put six episodes per disc instead of four so there's more compression. I'm no expert.
I can say that the video isn't nearly as washed out as my old ADV set and so I'm pretty pleased.
Some sound effects have also been changed and that worried me when I read the complaints, but the new effects aren't bad. Just different. Takes a bit of adjusting. Annoying how loud all the effects are though, it really isn't that well balanced with the music and dialogue during action sequences. Although it sure does sound nicer than the old set.
Definitely worth the eighteen bucks I spent at DDD

I'm no expert either, but I really don't think the # of episodes has anything to do with it. I think the source material is the biggest culprit
Reading some of the nonsense from the Amazon reviews, it's fairly clear those are fanboys with unrealistic expectations. It's like me thinking that Lawrence of Arabia doesn't have that good of video quality because it doesn't look like the Matrix Reloaded. The print is what it is. I think it accurately captures what it is supposed to look like.

I read some reviews (DVDverdict, I think) that did a comparison between Animeigo and Remastered. They said there was a difference, but nothing major. They seemed reasonable too. I also read those Amazon postings you mentioned and it definitely smacked of 'fanboyitis'. I'm personally glad to have the new set.
p.s. The problem with Lawrence of Arabia's transfer is that they screwed up all the CGI

I may be resurrecting a dead thread, but at least I used search!
I picked up Vol 1 yesterday and Vols 2 and 3 today. Got a limited edition Robotech figure with Vol. 2 and 3.
Strange thing is, the figure with Vol 3 has two right legs! The left leg looks like it's backwards. So it can't change into an airplane right because the parts don't fit. Anyone else have this kind of problem?
Right now I just finished the first disc in Vol. 1. I haven't watched this since I was a kid, so I'm going to watch it all in order.

Defunct Account
I had the Legacy sets and reviewed the remastered editions (the first two....ADV never sent the third set out to DVDTalk
)
I would say they are worth the upgrade. The picture is a great improvement. Since this is a show that's fun to pull out every year or so, I think you'd get your $$ worth.
Just my $0.02.

At the time I bought my copy of Vol 2 and 3, there was only one copy of Vol. 3 in the store. I haven't seen Vol. 2 or 3 anywhere else, and I've only seen one or two copies of Vol. 1 at the two Target stores I've checked out.
If ADV doesn't respond to my e-mail, I'll call 'em.
