Is Casino OOP?
Saw Casino last night on USA and I thought it was fantastic, even though it was badly edited due to being on network television. Anyways, I understand there is no SE coming in the near future, and wanted to pick up the barebones version that is out, since it does have anamorphic picture and 5.1 sound. Does anyone know if this DVD is OOP? Is it easy to find?

Not sure if it's OOP, but you will have to pay some bucks for it.

Not sure if Columbia House has it or not.
One of my favorite movies.

Thanks guys, looks like I won't be able to find it cheaper than $20. Just called BB and they said $21.99. I could always go to Amazon, though. Still worth it though, I really liked this movie. I may pick it up this afternoon.

Very true.
A couple years back, they had it for $29.95 coupled with Carlitos Way.
It is my wife's favorite film, and this was way before we got into the CH thing, so we plunked down $20.99 for it at DVD Planet B&M (she had no desire to own CW).
To this day, no SE, no nothing, so no regrets with paying basically full pop for it back then. Great, great film.
Regarding the specs, it is 2.35:1 Anamorphic; but no DTS. Just 5.1.

Someone on Half.com has it for 17 bucks brand new.
Even better, someone on Amazon has it for 14.15.
As far as DTS goes, only available on the R2 France.

i think circuitcity has this for $19.99, best b&m price i've seen so far. even target has this disc for $21.99. a price drop is looong overdue on this title, though the studio is probably milking this all the way.

For a non-anamorphic image, the quality of the transfer is pretty good - a direct laserdisc port. It's a hell of a lot better than the VHS.
I'd rather have a nice SE with an anamorphic transfer, but the current disc is somewhat acceptable if you can't wait.

I have no complaints about the current Casino out there.
Could it be better? Yes.
I'd rather wait for Scorcese to do it right then have Universal screw up another release.

Well, there will eventually be a better home video release of Casino - if not on DVD, then on HD-DVD. It's just a matter of time.
I don't need to own this one badly enough to pick up the current disc, but it's there, if you want it.

Oh, well, if it's anamorphic so much the better. No reason not to pick it up now if you're a fan. I remember the image looking pretty good.

The disc is definitely anamorphic and the picture quality is far from terrible. There is a good amount of intentional grain, but it is intentional. For a three hour film, this one looks and sounds quite nice. I'd love a SE and I'd double dip in a heartbeat.
