Wow.

I knew it would be bad, but I figured it would most likely be vaporware.

I don't mean to boast, but I know that I could generate a better product than that, but then again, anybody who put even a littel effort could generate a better product than that.

I don't see the the original "Godzilla" sans Mr Burr on the list. How can they have "GODZILLA’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!" without showing this film? Personally I rather see these films in the original Japanese with English Subs, rather than dubbed. Also any dubbed DVD release is a no buy. Will only buy these films in the original Japanese with English Subs.

Well, with the Toho R2 DVD, and my old VHS tape, I could come up with a really nice looking disc with dubtitles, anyway.

The only full screen Godzilla DVD that Sony/Columbia Tri Star has released is the Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah/Mothra & Godzilla: The Battle for Earth double feature disc. If you're referring to the DVDs that were part of "The Ultimate Godzilla DVD Collection" (Godzilla King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Mothra, Godzilla's Revenge, Terror of Mechagodzilla, Rodan), those were from Classic Media. Sony helped in the distribution, but Classic Media is not owned by them.

No specs or release dates have been given for the titles Sony will put out, but it looks good that they will be WS, and hopefully with the original Japanese language tracks.

The Nuart Theater had already booked Gojira from Rialto, so it won't be screened at the Film Fest. I'm excited that I'll be able to see the two movies that I haven't seen yet, the just released in 2003 Godzilla: Tokyo SOS and (gasp!) Gigantis the Fire Monster. Some of the movies shown are subbed, some are dubbed. It all depended on what was available, and who was providing it I believe. Universal, for instance, is providing a new print of the dubbed King Kong. vs. Godzilla (can you say possible DVD release soon).

When I first started collecting this genre on DVD I had the same opinion. That would certainly be nice, but it aint happening, and I'd rather have these movies dubbed than not at all. If the R2s had subtitles, I would have started collecting them.

I don't give a dam about any of the newer films, only the 1950's & 1960's originals.

that Ghidrah disk pisses me off. I can handle fullscreen, but not at that bad quality.
