Question: about Ghostbusters

Thanks DVD Josh - I'll check it out! I liked the mystery around the movie back then - I actually rode past the scene outside Dana's building back in late 1983 without knowing what it was! I could see the troops and the cop car "underground" - up close it looked kinda fake.
BTW, is DCA "DVD Custom Artwork"?

does the current version of GB have the alternate TV scenes? two memorable scenes come to mind: when Venkman pops out of the ballroom after busting the slimer ghost, and the meeting in the mayor's office. how i wish studios would release these alternate TV scenes on the discs as extras, but i'm not sure how rights are set up for them to be included.

What KIND of television are you watching it on, Josh? Is it a widescreen HDTV display? And what size is it? If not, then picture quality is pretty much a moot point anyway, since a person watching an a standard 4x3 display can't really judge picture quality anyway.

The WAY Josh responded is what deems his maturity, not whether he thinks the picture quality is good or bad. I never said whether the picture quality was good or bad. Before you guys wanna jump in, why don't you read EVERYTHING you're responding to. Instead of asking me, "Whoa! Where did that come from?", read the posts that preceded it and you'd see very clearly where it came from.

Pants, Is that a Sony? If so, what do you think of the enhanced 16:9 viewing mode. My dad didn't want a HDTV, so I got him a 32" Sony with the 16:9 viewing mode and he doesn't seem to like it, since it actually shrinks the entire picture a bit. What do you think of it? I'd love to be able to persuade him over to the enhanced viewing mode side, since that was the reason I got that TV for him, but I don't know. Can you help me out?

Chipmac, I've seen it. When you use enhanced 16:9 mode, the picture is even smaller. I don't know why, but it is. If something is set wrong, please tell me what it is, so I can fix it.

In other words, you have to set the player up same as if you had a widescreen TV. If the player is set up like that already, and it's still smooshing it down to small, chances are the factory settings for the TV are off. You can adjust the size of the squeeze in the service menu of the TV. Advise if you need it and I can post or send instructions on how to do that.
