Actually, the track listed in the menu shot is a Dolby Digital 2.0 track (or Dolby Surround/Pro Logic/whatever you want to call it). Yes it's mandatory that there should be a Dolby Digital track included in the DTS version, but it doesn't have to be 5.1 in particular.

Well, maybe exclusive to Amazon, but DDD has the DTS version (although oddly they also claim the French audio):

Well, the specs listed by DDD match neither of the menu screens we have. They list a DTS English, Dolby 5.1 English and Dolby 5.1 French, while the two menu shots show a version with DTS English and 2.0 English and a version with Dolby 5.1 of English and French.

There are two versions being released. One with DD 5.1 and French DD 5.1 and another with DTS 5.1 and DD 2.0. The content, however, will be the same on both versions.

Amazon only has one version up for preorder. I was hoping it would contain both English DTS 5.1 and English DD 5.1. Now I don't know which one I have preordered...

I really like keepcases too but, they probably should make them smaller. Shorter like you mentioned and a bit thinner. My collection is very small (Netflix'er) but with the storage problems a lot of you face, smaller makes sense. Whatever the next generation of DVD ends up being (blu-ray, AOD, whatever), it SHOULD be around for a very, very long time. People are eventually going to have some pretty crazy collections.

So is the new DTS version of Ryan in the box with Shooting War, etc? That is the one I want to pick up, but I have to grab the DTS version (already got the DD). Kind of glad they are giving the DTS version its own disc instead of cramming many aduio options onto the disc.

Remember that SPR is distributed by Universal - so there's still a good chance the packaging and/or marketing of this film could be screwed up in some way.

I'm just saying.

Yes, plan on something getting screwed up bu Universal; whether it be mis-communication, mis-framing, defective disc(s), or botched packaging.

I believe that there is only going to be one release of SPR. Disc One will be the DD and Disc 2 will be DTS. I really can't see those features listed taking up 1 whole disc.

Is the boxed set with the two docs exclusive to Amazon? I can't find it listed anywhere else.

Everyone has it listed as The World War II Collection:

Now, for the next contraversy . . . does this collection have the DTS for SPR? DVDEmpire and DVDPlanet have it listed but Buy.com and DDD don't . . .

I'm hoping LBCrazyFool is right and that all versions have DTS . . .

There's already a boxed set called the "World War II Collection" - it contains the 2-disc version of Patton, Tora Tora Tora, The Thin Red Line, and The Longest Day.

Be careful you don't order the wrong one!

SO there will probably be two releases one with DD and one with dts as a stand alone release,,,right?
Does anyone know if Universal / Dreamworks is doing a new transfer? ( Why isn't this released by Dreamworks?)

Universal Home Video is the distributor for all Dreamworks titles.

Usually that is listed under its actual title 'WW II Collection" or "WWII Collection".

Hey, as far as deleted scenes go, wasn't there some rumors a while back that there was a whole sequence of Capt. Miller's team going after the '88s before they recouperate on the beachhead when they get the mission to go find Pvt. Ryan?

Thanks for the heads up on this one, jough. I was able to pick up just the Patton discs from this set from someone selling the films individually on eBay.
