I fear that the high price/low episode count means we have another Larry Sanders or Mary Tyler Moore on our hands.
I hope not though. |
We've waited 18 months to be told there won't be any xtras..it's about time but Universal is the worst studio out there when it comes to relasing there back log of tv shows..

From IGN
February 17, 2004 - Universal Home Video has announced that season one of the time travel TV series Quantum Leap will hit DVD on June 8 in a two-disc set for $59.98. The series starred Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell and ran from 1989 to 1993, with Bakula playing a time traveler stuck in a different time period in an attempt to get home. The two disc set will come with deleted scenes, video documentary footage, mock movie footage and "unexposed footage," whatever that means. |
"unexposed footage" is probably a fancy way of saying behind the scenes.
|
IGN got that "unexposed footage" and the other extras mixed up with what is going to be on the Northern Exposure DVD.

Originally posted by ENDContra I've watched the majority of episodes of Quantum Leap, and I never recall the font for "Quantum Leap" ever looking like that. I thought it looked off too, but i guess not. I hold very little hope of this set being good. And that price is way too much. Sadly, i think this will be a pass for me. |
I can live with the price, I just hope they don't go UP too much with the other seasons. Maybe they wanted to set a price precendent for the series... instead of selling season 1 for $30 and the other seasons for $60.
|
I'm guessing the future releases will be around the same price. Look at the releases of Voyager and TNG that only have 6 or 5 discs, but they still charged the same price as the other releases.
Not the same company, but HBO released some of the 2 disc sets of sex and the city for the same price as the 3 disc sets. It amazes me that they do this, but it gives hope that the subsequent seasons of QL may be more reasonable. Dissapointing that there are no commentaries, but I wasn't expecting them. Oh well. |
Well, Leap is hitting the stores for pre-order. And all you "60 bucks is too much" people can clam up now. DDD has it for 38.99 and Amazon has it for 41.99 (less StL, of course).
40 bucks is pretty damn reasonable if you ask me. |
"40 bucks is pretty damn reasonable if you ask me."
At 8 episodes that's $5.00 an episode. Compare this to the X-Files: 24 episodes for roughly $100 that's 4.17 an episode. Not that far off but considering the series is quite a few years old compared to X-Files and that number is troubling to say the least. I think the studios are shooting themselves in the foot with this one. Quantum Leap does not have as large a fan base as the X-Files does. My 2 cents CF |

Honestly I think that everyone will be surprised by how well this sells... there is a much larger fan base for this show than some of you realize... besides, I have spent $40-$60 on lots of things that I have never even seen... the way I see it, most of this show's fanbase can afford it... we aren't teenagers who are surviving on an allowance.

This is awesome! I'm not sure if I've even seen the first season, 'cause I think I started watching on the second one. I wouldn't pay $60 for it, but $40 not too bad.

No 5.1 mix?

Why would they have DD2.0 mono when the show was produced and aired originally in stereo?
|
