Grabbed the 2 disc SE at Target for 17.09 + tax using 1 of my 43% off Futurama rain checks. Still got 3 more of those bad boys..........
Got the BB bonus DVD from someone who gave it to me out of the 1 disc WS release so it all worked out well.

Got the 2-disc at Walmart for 19.99 after showing them a Kroger ad. I have watched the "100 Days" and the featurette about writing the screen play. It's a great dvd so far and I love the insert, map, and BOOKLET! I don't get whats so special about the BB disc, the making of is already great. If it's like what they did with 2 Fast 2 Furious (same stuff, just reedited from dvd) then that's a big waste.

Blind bought the 2-disc edition yesterday as well. While I still think it's a bit overpriced, the extra features are magnificent and the 5.1 audio is immersive.

i bought it blind, and i love it.
but i hate what they are doing, releasing two seperate versions, a 1 disk and a 2 disk. selling the reg version for 14.xx, 15.xx and the 2 disk for 29.xx. its crap if you ask me.
the same thing was done with texas chainsaw

Picked up the 2 disc set at Freddy's for $23 and change. Included a free 'ship in a bottle' and 2 liter of Coke. This is some mighty fine packaging, IMHO. The book and map are really interesting, and oh yeah, the movie rules, too.

this set is amazing. by far the best dvd so far.....the dts-es is insane...and my house was shaking last night. The packaging sates 5.1 but the film was mixed at 6.1, according to the web site. So enable your rear surrounds if you have them. I love how in the dialoug scenes you can still hear the whole boat "acting" so to speak. Saliors running on the top deck through the whole movie. The cannons pack a great punch. I see this being the best dvd of the year audio wise, but ROTK may take the cake come November.

And as others have mentioned, the DTS track is phenomenal. Probably the best I've heard. I'm not an audiophile, and don't by any means have a top of the line system, so I'm not saying best by a technical stand point (though it may be) but it's best by an immersion stand point. From the cannonballs ripping through ships, to the wind, waves splashing, the ship creaking, it's just awesome and really makes you feel like you're on the ship.
