Classic "Dawn of the Dead" .. which version to get

guess what .. i know I asked the same question over 2 years ago .. but things change ...

so .. i keep wondering again .. and sure .. a remake coming up may be a reason .... which is the best DVD version to get ??? i know there are several out there ..

having seen the movie bazillion of years ago (german VHS) .. i may had to suffer through the german language dub (which my have added to the horror) but i guess i got it pretty uncut ...

so .. which DVD release should i try to get ???

thanks

P

The 1 Disc SE coming out March 9th, then the 3-4 Disc Uber Edition coming out this fall.

I have 3 versions of Dawn Of The Dead on DVD (both US releases plus the one from England which has commentary by Tom Savini plus has extra scenes). I would say the release from England (one disc) is the best so far, but at this point I would probably wait until the new version comes out. I know I'll be getting the one on March 9th plus the one in the fall. At this point I'll have more versions of one film than Evil Dead!

I just checked Best Buy's website and they have it listed for $11.99! Can't wait!

Feels like I've been waiting for the oft-promised multi-disc set for half a decade. I sold my old copy of the original AB release on ebay aeons ago (thank you, uninformed masses, for that $40), and now I have to rent the damned thing from netflix again so I can do my Romero marathon this month.

[looking forward to watching There's Always Vanilla, Season of the Witch and OJ Simpson: Juice on the Loose for the first time]

I'm picking up the large set instead of wasting money on buying the same version of the same movie two times with the only difference being the extras.

Of course with my luck since I'm in the middle of selling my old dvd on ebay, they are going to pull an Ed Wood style recall on Dawn and never end up releasing it again.
