From: Texas! Damn right.
Awesome. Hopefully, they release more, but I can't imagine paying $270 for a full season.

According to Second City, they are already working on the next release, Season 4, Cycle 2 which will also include a round table discussion with the show's writers. Time Life home video is going to start releasing individual discs at the end of April for those who find the box sets difficult to digest. Unfortunately, the high price tag is a result of music clearance costs although unlike the press release stated, apparently "minor" edits have been made in cases where music could not be cleared. It will be addressed in the box set booklet.

Is there a full episode guide anywhere?

There was an episode with Hall & Oates on it, and a great Sex Pistols parody where they did a song called "I Hate the Bloody Queen."

Man, I'd love to have that on DVD.

The Hall and Oates episode would be in the third cycle of Season 4, containing the classic "Chariott of Eggs."

As mentioned by Buford T. Pusser earlier in this thread, there is a pretty exhaustive episode guide here:

SCTV Episode Guide

Personally, I'm just excited that in June, I will have a copy of the full Polynesiantown episode. I love the joke about the a cappella band, the Polyesters ( a take-off on Canada's Nylons, who would hit the charts in America three years later with a cover of "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye").

Oh, and let's not forget the irony of the whole thing...

You're in for a treat then. The 90 minute ones had running themes and such throughout them. Charatcters would take part in their skits, then also take part in the running gag. Most of these were cut from the 30 min ones, if I remember correctly.

$89.98 m.s.r.p. Ouch!! That means it will sell online for around $65...I'm afraid we may have another The Mary Tyler Moore Show:
The Complete First Season
here (High price + low sales = no second season.)

The next set should be much cheaper....10 hours of Street Beef with Johnny LaRue.

One man, one camera, one microphone: Street Beef

BTW, paper sleeve review copies are available. The owner of another DVD website mentioned on the SCTV NG that he got his about a week ago......

EDIT: Multiple reports on the SCTV newsgroup of DVD websites with review copies in hand, so I gotta believe/hope that one of the mucky-mucks here at DVDtalk has a set of discs........

In depth review just got U/L'ed at a competing DVD website.

Besides gushing over the content, the reviewer gave it:

video: C
sound: C
extras: B

It isn't verboten to mention other sites and even link to other reviews. How about a URL?

OK....

Oh, and a slight correction: reviewer gushed over ONLY the eps that I happened to skim over in the review. Upon a more thorough readthru, he was kinda "Ehhhh" on some of the eps......

I don't think it's verboten to link to other sites, or mention them.

I'm sure Mr.Kleinman knows that there are other sites on the internet.

What's verboten would be copying someone else's hard work here - especially when it's so easy to provide a link.

Thanks for the link. I've found a new home and I may not be back!

Reports of Suncoast taking pre-orders at 69.99.

What can we expect from DDD? 40% off....?

Great to have ANY and ALL SCTV, don't get me wrong. But the chapter encoding on this set is useless! Six chapters per episode? Only at the spots for commercial breaks? How lazy and useless -- I want to skip to Count Floyd or Bill Needle or Farm Film Report -- not try and remember where the heck the are --- I've got VHS for that!

End of rant.

What he said! Did anyone working there play a disc and go "Boy, this is annoying!" I guess not.

Shout Factory screwed up big time with this much anticipated release. Fair (at best) video quality, so-so episodes, and a $89.99 list price.
