I Wanna Hold Your Hand, will it ever get released?

Music rights are holding this film hostage at the moment & it seems to have not aired on tv expect for some rare showings on Vh1 & the Encore networks a few years back which I luckily caught.

I can't even find this for rental on VHS! So I was wondering,if Warner still owns the rights to the film. Will they ever get the music issue sorted out to get this great film released?

This film is too much fun & needs dvd release this very minute!

I'm not sure who owns this, but now would have been a great time to release it as it's the 40th anniversary of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.

I have the Laser of this film which Warner put out but it is full screen. I'd love to see a OAR DVD.

I actually pulled the VHS off my shelf and almost watched it last night, since it was exactly 40 years. But watching VHS is such a downer, so I just stepped outside and stared at the stage door of the Ed Sullivan Theater for a few minutes (which is around the corner from me) and let it go at that.

Yes, I'd love this on DVD ... think of the extras (if they could get the rights) .. tons of newsreel footage, perhaps a clip of the actual performances...

You should have walked over to the Hard Rock Cafe on 57th Street. I was there at the Fab40 party, hosted by Cousin Brucie and there were a lot of cool people there -- Little Steven, Billy Kramer, Michael Moore, Louise Harrison, Richard Belzer, Robert Klein, Mickey Dolenz, and more. Entertainment was by a band called Liverpool, and they showed clips from the Ed Sullivan DVDs on the screens around the cafe.

It was mostly an invite-only crowd, but there were plenty of fans lined up to get in, and they all did. It was a very cool time.

What does that have to do with the movie? Oh yeah, nothing.

Based on the title of your thread, I can say in my opinion that I don't think it'll ever get released... Looks like we'll be holding hands forever... hehe..

P.S. If you don't get this joke re-read the title of the thread

The title of the movie was based on the Beatles song. If you can't get the movie, just get the song.

Again I ask, what does this have to do with the movie? The original poster wants the movie released on DVD (as I do, also). Has nothing to do with wanting the song of the same name.

This was posted in another thread but I thought that the news deserved a bump here:

http://www.DIGITALBITS.COM

On 9/28, the studio [Universal] will release a Backbeat: Collector's Edition (SRP $19.98), with audio commentary by director Iain Softley, deleted scenes, an Iain Softley interview for the Sundance Channel, another interview with Iain Softley and Ian Hart, a director's essay, a TV featurette, video of the casting session, a photo gallery, music videos, the MTV Video Music Awards performance by the Backbeat Band, an interview with (and photographs by) Astrid Kerchherr and a Stuart Sutcliffe paintings gallery. Also on that day, watch for an I Wanna Hold Your Hand: Collector's Edition (SRP $19.98), with audio commentary with director/writer Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale.
No word on whether the original music is included on IWHYH ... let's hope so.
