I got to thank you guys for letting me know about this. I was wondering why I had one of the messages in my collection and it was for my Hellboy promo disc.

Did they announce that they were going to do this or was it out of the blue?

Is there another site that lists these discs? I like keeping track of my promo/bonus discs. I actually have an entire dvdaf collection category devoted to them.

Cheers.

Edit: Looks like all of my promo/bonus disc listings have been pulled other than the "Beyond Jurassic Park," and "Oliver Stone's America" discs.

I haven't really checked out guzzlefish, but their doesn't appear to be another site that keeps track of the promo releases.

The fact they listed those discs were the reason DVDAF was the best site to keep track of dvds. They kept track of everything. Now, not so much.

I checked their main page, and nothing about this was mentioned, so this was done out of the blue.

Bootleg titles I can understand. Porn titles, I can see their point. DVD manuals that come with how to put together a bed, I can understand as well.

But seriously, what problem did titles like the South Park unaired pliot or the Bill and Ted pizza hut disc cause to them?

Add to the fact that they just don't delete the title, they have to post a big message saying the disc was a bootleg (when it was not, I don't own any bootlegs).

I noticed the BMW DVD of the Hire is still in the database, but I give them a day or two to delete that. It falls under the same rules that the other discs were deleted. Might as well get rid of them all.....right?

Guzzlefish (while its stats and site design are very cool) doesn't even keep track of new releases, let alone promos. They do let you submit titles (although it takes a little bit of time to fill the form out).

yeah...but did you check their forums? thats where this had been discussed. some of the members wanted it that way. I'm not saying it's the best decision...but the owner communicates with his flock...at least those that make the effort to sit in the forum.

I'm a little mixed on it. I'm happy that most porn and boots are off...and could care less about my promo/bonus discs being left off. as long as my legit films and concerts are counted...I'm fairly happy. I just edit in, say...Bond Girls Forever under a Bond box and it shows those browsing my library that I have it. if it's not "counted"....it really wont bother me too much.

also....relax. let it ride for a while and something may be resolved. dvdaf is in a transition period and trying to go from good to great. this may not be in place forever. join the forum...express yer veiws without name-calling and ditch any harsh tones....and yer voice will be heard. others have complained and insulted and got banned.

I just wouldnt jump ship yet, thats all.

I see they've pulled the Indy Jones Bonus Disc as a separate title.

I didn't check the forums no. I really don't have time to post/read those, as I look at enough forums as it is. Still to be fair to everyone, they should have posted it on the main page. They are going to turn away more people if not careful. Someone looking at their collection, then all of a sudden seeing a big message saying some of their titles were deleted, is going to confuse a lot. They need something on the main page or somewhere.

But we shouldn't have to. They were in the database originally. Why delete all of them? Make a note on the main page that no more will be selected for a while. It seems as if they did more work for themselves.

If they went to all of the effort to remove everything, then I doubt they are going to change their mind and put everything back in. I joined the forums, and I posted. How good will it do, I don't know. Looking through the other posts, people have asked why this was done, with the answer being, "they take up too much noise". What the heck is "noise" suppose to be? They put up a poll and more people voted to leave it the way it was, then they go ahead and do it anyway. Shows how much they listen to feedback. I know you are a charter member, but getting something added that doesn't appear on amazon or buy or another of the other major retailers is like pulling teeth. Even though you include a picture, website were it is sold, ect, and is still declined. I have been upset with them for a couple of months now, and this is a final straw. Now they are just DVD Profiler with pictures. How detailed on how they included everything made them stand out. Now not so much.
