The theatrical version felt like an extended version with all of those false endings. My ass is still numb after sitting through Return of the king. Call me crazy, but I'd like to see tighter shorter version of that movie.

I haven't read them, so I may be way out of my league, but I heard that the book ends a similar way? Or not end, but begins to end in a similar way, wrapping up all the loose ends.

I'll be buying both again as well.
