The new ROOM WITH A VIEW?

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd

I did a search, didn't see a thread on this. Apparently not part of the Merchant-Ivory deal over at Criterion? (I know at one point the Criterion booklets listed Howard's End as an upcoming.)

Anyone have any specs on this?

Also, on how extensive the Merchant Ivory/Criterion collection is intended to be?

5.1 sound and 1.66:1 aspect (which according to IMDb is the original).

Well, if this is a warner release, in a 1.66:1 Aspect ratio... it STILL won't be anamorphic.

From DVDTimes:
BBC Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of A Room With a View: Special Edition for 6th April 2004 with a retail price of $26.99. A brilliant adaptation of E.M. Forster's novel, A Room with a View tells the story of the coming of age of Lucy Honeychurch (Helena Bonham-Carter). Longing to burst free from the repression of British upper class manners and mores, she must wrestle with her inner romantic longings to choose between the passionate George (Julian Sands) and the priggish but socially suitable Cecil (Daniel Day-Lewis). Boasting a brilliant supporting cast, A Room with a View is one of the most romantic of romantic comedies ever filmed.

This two-disc special edition boasts a newly restored transfer taken from the original negative that was supervised by the cinematographer alongside the following features:

• DD5.1 Surround
• Audio Commentary by Producer Ismail Merchant, Director James Ivory, star Simon Callow and cinematographer Tony Pierce Roberts
• A biography of author E.M. Forster
• "A tribute to Merhcant Ivory" featurette
• Archive promotional appearances by Daniel Day-Lewis and Simon Callow
• Photo gallery : Never before seen photos and memorabilia

's cool. Just teasin'.

And yeah, it's frustrating when they start to do something proper, and then stop part way.

I've been pretty impressed by what I've seen of the other Merchant Ivory releases.
