I've been quoted a bit of the email that went through FYE stores, and they said it's a "rights issue" or "legal issue," but I'm not sure that they really know that for a fact or not.

Just confirming again that is it definitely new packing. The back specifically mentions Big Fish, Lost in Translation, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Onebyone,

Why would the mentioning of those films constitute new packaging? Is there anything that violates copy rights when printing the names of films actors have previously worked in before?

Well Big Fish has just been released recently, which would make it seem like the release was set to go now to profit off of Burton's latest flick.

What's wrong with setting DVD releases to piggy back movie releases by the same director? Seems like it could either be a really good marketing decision or a bad one. But I'd think if people like Big Fish so much, they'd want to check out Burton's other films as well, right?

The employee who rang me up was more concerned telling me about the Entertainment Weekly promotion than the DVD itself. Even on the price sticker it clearly states "STFEB03." Interestingly enough, I searched in the Sam Goody in Menlo and found nothing. I wonder if it was only this particular store or what.

This was the highlight of my day. Thanks so much for letting us know where had them.

Does anyone REALLY know why Disney is cancelling this title?

Remember all the lame excuses about the Treasures Wave 3 delay? At the time Disney claimed that they couldn't get enough of the tins to satisfy demand? Seemed lame to me.

It turns out that Michael Eisner was having problems with Roy Disney and wanted all references to him deleted. At least that made more sense than blaming it on the tin suppliers.

What is the real problem this time?

Some of you are forgetting that the previous Ed Wood DVD was to be released in August of 2002, not last year. Some got out. It was one disc. It had something this one doesn't, though I assume this one has stuff that one didn't as well.

Anyway, looks like maybe I should avoid FYE altogether come Tuesday. But since I'll be in the mall anyway, maybe I'll just stop in to make sure.

I checked all over the cover art, the disc and the insert... It doesn't mention the copyright date anywhere. It only mentions "Buena Vista Home Entertainment" to the right of the copyright icon.

Thanks for the tidbit. Ijust checked and none of my BV DVDs have dates... how odd. You'd think there's someplace you could look this stuff up, but I've had no luck.

Can someone confirm if this has 2 Discs? I read that it was supposed to be 2 discs but haven't seen anyone mention it yet.

Also does this new SE contain the extra "When Carol Met Larry"? That was listed on the original release coverart.

It would also be great to hear from people who have actually watched this all the way through to see whether there are any problems. A brief review from someone over at home theater forum didn't mention anything wrong.

Thanks. I guess that was expected since Pirates, Lost in Translation, and Big Fish are all mentioned. It still leaves uncertainty though about whether the discs are new as well. New discs would certainly lend more weight to the idea of technical flaws.

There's only one disc, not 2 discs. I've opened the dvd and enjoyed it.

Well, muleentertainment finally cancelled my purchase for the dvd. Hopefully DVDLegacy and returnwarehouse. You think I should leave negative feedback for the two ****s who claimed to have it and then cancelled both my purchases? They would be dvdntoys and mulentertainment.

I don't see why you shouldn't leave negative feedback. If you buy something on the premise that a store has it and is able to ship it, then the store should be willing to take criticism if that's not actually the case. On the other hand, it's not like they've taken your money or given you any real trouble.

Well, having to check my email constantly to see if my order was confirmed for two days kind of gave me some trouble. After this whole day returnwarehouse STILL shows my order as in Packaging while dvdlegacy STILL shows it in AWAITING SHIPPING. I'm more nervous about them now, as I'm expecting that eventually I'll get a return saying they dont have the stock. They would definitely get negative feedback for taking my money and then finding out they dont have it.

Only there are alot more Ed Wood DVDs on ebay now than there was of Duel when Duel was first shelved. It's just a matter of time before the discs drop to the reasonable $30-$40 range.

Thanks. Thats very interesting since I swear I remember reading news a few months back that this would be a 2 disc set. How about the "When Carol Met Larry" featurette? Is it on there? No big deal to me if it isn't but I wondered if that might have been the source of the original first release delay.

I'm a bit confused over the speculation that these might be old discs. This new SE contains deleted scenes that were not on the original release.

Going for near $100 now. I am so glad I never saw this movie although I would love to eventually. Reading all of this has peaked my curiosity

Maybe this is Roy Disney's favorite movie and Eisner is just doing this to screw with Roy.
