I think we need to find out more about this. I may call my local Suncoast to see if they have it and I encourage other people to do the same. Even if they do have it on the shelf, though, I don't see how they can sell it for $69.98 when that's the price they are selling the regular set for.

Bought the 6-disc set blind and have finished half of the discs so far. God, this show is so awesome. I just ordered the Yerabook edition from the website and it took my order, so hopefully they are still available! I usually have no interest in extras but this set is something special.

I was mad for quite a while; it's not really the fact that Suncoast is selling it that bothers me (after all, I got my set more than a month ago), but that they're selling it for so much cheaper. I suppose it would seem to be a mistake since the 6-disc version has an MSRP of $69.99, but, even so, I feel like I've been cheated.

I went to one Suncoast in Long Island, and called up another - no dice on the 8-Disc edition....d'oh!
I bought the regular 6-disc version a few weeks ago as a semi-blind buy!
I remember watching a few minutes of an episode (Tricks and Treats) when it first aired and a part of Cheap Trick's "Gonna Raise Hell" was playing.
Since I'm a HUGE CT fan, and I've read about the hype surrounding this series, I just had to check it out....and it's awesome. Still deciding about whether I want to pluck down $120 when I just spent $45 at Amazon!

For the majority of unlucky ones who can't find them in Suncoast, I ordered my Yearbook last week, direct from the F&G website and they still have them in stock and I should have it tomorrow by UPS 2-Day. I never received the comfirmation email, but I contacted the extremely helpful customer service and they immediately responded and gave me the tracking number.

Ben Stiller is hilarious. I love his speech about how he hates his life of a Vice President body gaurd. "You ever hear of somebody assassanating the vice president? Cause guess what, nobody cares!" That entire episode is very good, but the whole
Spoiler:
Discos and Dragons just leaves everything on such a great note, but very open for possibilities. Seeing Daniel interact with all the geeks was excellent. All the Grateful Dead stuff was great as well. In my mind, those are the top 2 episodes. I'd probably rate D&D a little higher.

Now that you mention it...I'm curious...
In the last ep, Lindsey was on the bus...but, she eventually got out and met her friends. I'm probably thinking too hard on this, but how did that happen? Like, do you think she never planned to go (I forget where her real destination on the bus was to) to her real destination and planned to meet Kim and her friends all along? If not, how did they just happen to be at a bus stop when she got off? It's not like cell phones were big in the 80's or anything. She couldn't have just called Kim and said, "Screw it, Im meeting you guys, meet me as this bus stop...."
I'm just curious if I missed something? I watched the finale a month or so ago, so I may be forgetting.

My question is how come the season spans an entire school year
(at least from pre-Halloween to Summer vacation) and yet it's never Winter. We're talking Michigan here. Did they just skip that part of the year? I realize it's probably a budget thing since it's hard to shoot Winter in California, but it's just strange.

^^Interesting point. I never thought about it. I could be totally wrong, but I don't think it's THAT expensive to take grounded soap or whatever and litter it on the ground and onto trees for snow effect.
I'm curious, is there any particular commentary that's really worth listening to? I'm still making my way through the special features.

I also wondered about the odd lack of snow on the show. Maybe 1980 was a very mild winter in Michigan?

so it sounds like they were on a pretty tight budget.
As far as recommended commentaries, I've only listened to four and I like them all, but I'm always a commentaries-enjoying kind of guy.

My question is how come the season spans an entire school year
Like, what happens with the election? At the beginning, Jimmy Carter is the president (Alan's line in the shower episode), and at the end, Ronald Reagan is (Bush being VP), but there's never any mention of that switchover going on, even in the backgrounds ... there's no winter, as you say ... there's a big jump (Neil's grades have been slipping for months) from 'The Garage Door' to the one with the ventriloquist's dummy ... the time of the show is loose that way. Which is cool; the season has enough events happen, yet it still feels as if we're only hearing anecdotes from a friend, rather than being told every single thing that happened to them in a year.

Hey guys,
What did you think of the "Bus" Script that's on disc 8? Like it? Dislike?
Also, how much replay value (purely based on the shows themselves, not extras) do you think this has? Do you think you'll watch the 18 episodes often like other tv shows on dvd set collections you have?

As for replay value, this is the only TV Show DVD set I have watched completely through 3 times, without commentaries or extras. I blindly bought this and couldn't believe how great this show was that I watched it again with my brother (he ended up buying one as well) and have since watched it again.
I own all of the Friends, Simpsons, King of Queens, Family Guy, Futurama, 24, Sopranos, and a few others and none of those have gotten replayed as much as my F&G set.

Here's some geek trivia for ya. I just watched "Looks and Books". Near the beginning of the episode, Harris is sitting at the table with the other geeks. He is holding a copy of the AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide. The edition he is holding didn't come out until 1983(cover shows the DM opening a pair of doors).

An Efreet should have been on the cover since the show takes place in 1980-1981.
