They posted the delay on the Disney Treasures tins days before anybody else. With their track record, I believe them.

Um, Disney had a very good year in 2003. It makes a lot of sense to hold off on catalog titles until they can tie those releases in with other releases for promotional purposes.

If "Pocahontas" and "Lilo and Stitch" came out tomorrow, nobody would notice much. They have every reason to release their films at a time that maximizes sales.

Reread Pants' post above. And, if it DID "make a lot of sense" to "synergize" DVD releases, why wasn't the original Freaky Friday released at the same time the new one was. Either in the theatres or on DVD..? Perhaps they're waiting for Jodie Foster's next flick to come out..?

As for your "nobody would notice much" comment regarding Lilo & Stitch...I disagree.

Check out THIS thread.

or how 'bout THIS one..

or THIS one..

no, wait, do THIS one..

how 'bout this one, this one or this one..

Or perhaps you should check out UltimateDisney.com..

sarcasm aside, L&S would be VERY MUCH noticed.

Pocahontas, on the other hand, i'd have to admit, it might not be as noticed. Though, i'd buy it.

Question...where is the animation for L&S II being drawn?

As long as I get my Gnome Mobile and the rest of the Herbie movies, I'll be happy!

dvds like lilo and stich are getting a second release yet movies like aladian havnt even gotten one yet, i know its comming but iam impatiant!!!
Then why are you mad? The announcement was that the second release of 'Lilo and Stitch' and 'Pocahontas' (which might actually be #3 for that, I think) are going to come out in 2005, which means that 'Aladdin' will have been out for at least three months prior to their second release. Shouldn't that be making you happy?

It makes a lot of sense to hold off on catalog titles until they can tie those releases in with other releases for promotional purposes.
Okay, tough guy, explain it to me. How will 'The Princess Diaries 2' increase the sales of 'Mary Poppins' in any significant way? Do you honestly believe that the primary target audience for Disney movies is sufficiently developed to say, "Hey, that woman is the same woman as that woman except forty years older"? 'Cause I sure don't (as a generalization). Hell, I'm not even sure I'll recognize Julie Andrews in (ads for) 'The Princess Diaries 2'.

Even better, explain how 'Lilo and Stitch II' getting a theatrical release is sufficient explanation for why 'Pocahontas' is being delayed.

I don't understand Disney and their bring a DVD out for a few months then pull it off the shelf. I mean allot of family's buy their DVD's and they cant afford to get every new Disney DVD that comes out. They will buy one then by the time they are ready to get a new Disney DVD the older one they skipped is not on the shelf anymore so they can't buy it and Disney will lose money. People still want to buy Snow White and it's hard to find so they are missing out on sales. I mean I wanted a few Disney cartoons that I can't find now so boom Disney is missing my money now cause I just got something else with that money. Disney is ran like shit. What gets me is they have been losing money for years and still will not change the way they are doing business. I myself want at least $150 worth of old Disney DVD's that I can no longer find.

I got no idea who in the living hell told Disney this would be a good way to bring out movies.

Also Disney needs to stop making so many cartoon movies a year just make the one a year like they used too their cartoon movies no longer seem spacial being as they are making so many now. It used to be this summer your going to see a Disney movie and you won't see a new one to next year so it was almost spacial seeing it but now it's like it's just here to full space in the summer season now. I think that is why Pixer is kicking ass you know your not going to see a film from them every year so when they make one it's seems spacial.

I really don't care about delays and never care WTF a company does with their movies. I still like to have Lilo and Stitch but I can wait no big deal.

You said yourself that you do indeed want at least $150 worth of merchandise of their catalog titles. If any one of those titles would come out today, for a limited time only, you'd buy it as soon as you could even if you had to pay a little more (you couldn't shop around too long you know). Thats why they do it to increase the consumer's drive to own their product. Still, it does suck, especially if you sold your kid's older version disk and told them they would get the newer one this year when it came out in a better edition. Hopefully, she'll forget

Pocahontas delayed [sighs]

Add this to Lizzie McGuire being sold out of order and incomplete

And no Boy Meets World

plus a horrible line up on Disney Channel [get rid of Boy Meets World, put it on a after midnight slot, decrease Lizzie McGuire airings, keep shows like Jett Jackson,Smart Guy, The Jersey, and Sister Sister on, double the amount of Raven, Proud Family, etc...]

Cute, brown, native chicks. Maybe Lilo will grow up enough to be the same kind of cute as Pocahontas. If not, then you know somebody in Disney marketing has some issues.

The hell if I do that if I don't have the extra money I skip stuff. I skip allot of shit I want cause of timing and price if I miss one DVD so be it I will find something else I want later to replace it. Disney missed my $150 and not going to see it so they lost some money. Anyway it's thier movies they can do whatever the hell they want with them make them not OAR color black and white movies I don't care about crap like that but Disney is still ran like crap. I'm also cool with delays gaves me some time to get more money together for other stuff.

That would be this...

Lilo & Stitch II would be yet another attempt to milk an original idea that was created by the arm of the animation division that Eisner recently trashed..
