Both versions are available & packaged with their sequels.
Peter Staddon of Fox Entertainment recently said in a chat over at HTF the following in regards to The Fly 1986 SE...
"The Fly should make it into 2004 but no promises."
and
"The Fly should be out in late 2004."

As far as the 1950's The Fly----pick up this DVD immediately! Both The Fly and Return of the Fly on one disc----very sharp, anamorphic widescreeen prints for both, trailers for both and under $10.
