BEAN: THE MOVIE question...

Any news of a reissue of BEAN: THE MOVIE? I know that Universal released it not too long ago, acquired from Polygram, but it's the same old LD, non-anamorphic transfer. Anyone?

I'd like a release with the 20+ minutes of deleted scenes that was easily available on the widescreen VHS set of the film.

Yeah, a SE would be nice. I picked up that VHS SE solely to see the deleted scenes. And the deleted scenes were really funny, too.

This has 20 minutes of deleted scenes? I had no idea. I have the Polygram DVD and am satisfied as this is not exactly a classic film. However, I would buy a new version if it contained 20 minutes of deleted scenes.

The VHS special edition (available in pan and scan and 1.85:1 widescreen editions) included a 20+ minute featurette before the start of the film with the director and Rowan Atkinson introducing all the footage they cut from the film. Some very funny moments were deleted, including a few with Bean in England before he left for the states.

Any news of a DVD reissue with special features and anamorphic enhancement? ...If not I'll be forced to purchased the current, non 16x9 enhanced edition. Anyone?

So there are not 20 minutes of deleted footage. Do you have any idea how much of that 20 minute feature was actually deleted footage?

It's been awhile since I watched the featurette, but I seem to remember them saying that before they made cuts, it took about a half an hour before Bean got to America, and they cut it down to about 10 minutes.

Some of what they showed was actually just brief snippets of deleted material, so I'm assuming that there's actually a great deal more than 20 minutes of deleted material. I don't think they ever flat out say, though.
