This site is ancient. It predates DVD. I remember coming across it back when I collected widescreen VHS. Look up the old movie newsgroups on Google, back around 1995 and 1996. He used to post there, ranting and raving. If it was a hoax, he got way too carried away with it.

By now, that guy has a 50" plasma screen and is lamenting old non-anamorphic DVDs in his vast collection. People do change their opinions on this, I once rented "Manhattan" and was pissed that 2/3 of my 19" screen went unused.
