I just don't get it..
I'll keep the old version of Ransom that I have. I'm just praying they didn't do the same thing to Splash.

Ransom is a great movie. I have the barebones region 1 dvd and will be picking up the special edition too eventually. When I get the SE, I'll have to sell my other one..No need for two copies

I have both movies in hand. On it's specs Ransom says it is widescreen, but Splash is enhanced for 16x9.

Thank God Buena Vista got 1 out of 2 right (which is about the going percentage for all of Disney's Catalog releases). I'll be happily buying Splash 20th AE SE & skipping Ransom.

I was more concerned with Splash anyways..
[Not that that excuses Ransom's treatment...]

Well, guess I just saved $20 on Ransom. I'll just keep my LD of the director's cut since all I was looking for was the anamorphic transfer. Oh well. Good job Disney!

Too bad about Ransom not being anamorphic, at least Spalsh is. I'm still probably gonna pick up Ransom because I really like the movie and apparently it includes two tickets to see The Ladykillers for free (according to the IGN review I just read). When you figure the admission is $16 or so for two people, the actual price of the DVD will be practically free (if, Ransom is on sale for $16 somewhere).

There is also a free ticket to The Ladykillers included with the Splash dvd. And there is only supposed to be one ticket included. I think the reviewer just got lucky and got an extra one.

Here's a review of the new Splash 10th Anniversary DVD:

And yes, it's anamorphic as has been covered.

Yeah, so somebody at Buena Vista messed up big time. They lost themselves a sale. When I heard about the Ransom SE, I thought, cool. I liked this flick and some extras would be rather fun to have. Now that it ain't anamorphic, I'm not gonna bother. I mean, you can already get an anamorphic transfer on that movie in Korea. I'll wait for the SE to be released elsewhere, I'm sure it'll have an anamorphic transfer somewhere in the world.
