TRAINSPOTTING SE dvd?! finally?! maybe?!

haven't heard anything on it yet, but Europe got a great SE a few months ago. And then tonight on the film ratings board i found this....

Trainspotting - Collector's Edition (2003)
Buena Vista Home Entertainment
R Rated R for graphic heroin use and resulting depravity, strong language, sex, nudity and violence.

what else would this be for besides a dvd, right?

ooooh, I really hoped Criterion was able to get this since the LD was really nice, but whatever it takes for a nicer R1 version.

The R2/PAL release is a great 2-disc edition that's well worth getting for anyone who has a region-free player.

Wasn't it Brazil who had "Once Upon a Time in America" for a while before it was released in the US? Either way, I hope that an SE actually does make it to the US, since good deals can usually be had all around!

or indeed anyone who is in R2 with a DVD Player regardless of multi-region capability or not

Hopefully we will see an SE in the future. They should've released one with 28 Days Later though. Would've been good timing for Buena Vista to make a few more bucks.

I think it warrants an SE to at least upgrade the transfer. IIRC, isn't the original R1 release non-anamorphic?

Can't wait for a R1 SE. I have yet to drop down the bucks for a region free player. It's kind of a hard sell to the wife...

Yes. Which is why I have yet to pick it up... A new anamorphic transfer is long overdue.
