I am looking forward to this disc and am buying the platinum series release without question. I enjoyed this movie a lot and am always up for adding another slasher to the collection.

I'll definitely be picking up the platinum series set. I love all the Michael Bay commentaries I've heard so far, and I imagine this one should be interesting.

Yeesssss! This is the DVD I've been waiting for. I'm especially happy it will have a DTS track. If only I was capable of ES, though!

One site said the retail was 39.95 for the platinum and 27.95 for the stripped down version. Is that not a little high? Won't the 2-disc be going for like twenty five with that retail?

The price structure better be a misprint. That is just ridiculous!!

I may be picking this up if the price is right. Was a pretty decent film considering how bad horror has been today.

Now does anyone know about the supposed 100 minute Canadian theatrical release listed on imdb.com? The U.S. release was only 98 minutes. Meanwhile two sequences at the very least seemed edited(sloppily) that if they were meant to be left up to the imagination. They failed miserably since the two sequences left audiences & myself confused as to what happened.

I hope this isn't the start of a new trend in the business.

Single disc and souped up releases on the same day? Universal's doing it with Scarface, Seabiscuit and American Wedding, now we get New Line doing it here.

What this is going to do is that it's going to make getting the editions we all want of these flicks tougher to get at a decent price. B&M will have no reason to use the expensive set as a loss leader when they have the single disc release to do that. Most people will be happy with just that.

But the rest of us will have to pay for it by shelling out $30 or more to get the set that should have been the one released in the first place.

If they came out at different times (like LOTR), then both can be used as loss leaders, but where's the incentive to do that if both are out on the same day? Look at Seabiscuit this week. Best Buy has the standard release for $16.99, while the gift set is $39.99. Fortunately CC has it for $15.99 and $29.99, but even that isn't great news.

It may not be worth a call to arms over this film, but if this becomes more common, it's bad news for solid releases.

Do you mean awsome as in 'wow I want to pay that!!!!' or awsome as in 'woa that is totally over the top & unrealistic?"

I just found out the pricing is true, for the time being. I know I won't be picking this up right away, unless the release week sales are incredibly low.

Originally I was going to wait on getting the Escape from New York SE based on being low on cash. But since Target has it for $15.99 first week,I will not pass that up

Unfortunate to see New Line price-gouging.

$40 for the 2-disc set? Jesus, that's the same price as the 4-disc LOTR sets!

Bonekill. I've just lost all interest in this DVD.

A New York Times article on 'acceptable R-rated Film violence' mentioned that TCM was trimmed of explicit gore (i.e, impaling) - is the disc the R-rated cut or the unrated cut of the film?

Don't give a crap about extras, so the single disc will be fine for me.

Sounds like this will be similar to the two Red Dragon releases of earlier this year. This will be a tough choice, since I really love TCM.

I was hoping someone would point those out. So I'm not sure if I have four reasons, or two.
