I made a resolution over the past couple of months to only buy the must haves. Problem is there were a ton of must have DVDs over the past couple of months. The box sets were hitting me especially hard

What break - we had that 20 % off DDD code that more than made up for it. I spent $150 just on 2 orders and others here spent a lot more than that getting bargains.

yeah the lull is nice to have...finally.
after picking up EFNY:SE tues, i'm done for the year.
but come Jan 6, it starts all over again- (begining with The Postman Always Rings Twice!).
from there on out, it looks like every week for the next few months will have at least 2 'must haves'
Microcosmos
Ridicule
Accidental Tourist
Lost In Translation
Planet Of The Apes
The Front
and on and on.
i'm going to try to limit it down to just 2 purchases and then wait for CH to offer the rest.

On the new release front..my purchases should pick up pace again around Jan 20th when 'The Rules Of The Game' is expected to be released, from that week onwards and from what i have become aware of by way of announcements there is about 1-2 new releases the following weeks/months i'd strongly consider picking up.

Lull? What lull?
Bad Boys 2, SWAT, American Wedding, Freddy vs. Jason... definitely some more releases in the next month that are worth getting. Ok, well maybe not for everyone

For me, there is a bit of a lull (only about 3 titles between now and end of January are must buys). And yes, that's a good thing, especially after dropping $450 during DDD 20% off.

ditto. i started eyeing my checking account nervously during the past month or so.... it seemed like there was an endless supply of new releases aimed directly at ME, and i did my best to drink from the firehose. now i can kick my feet up and partake of the video-y goodness.

I am happy to say that I have no "must have" releases in the immediate future. The next ones that I know that I want to get are the Rain Man SE followed by the Titanic, Top Gun, and Schindler's List releases. There are some possibilities in there, too (e.g., American Splendor), that are ones that I haven't seen yet, so I still need to decide. Apart from that, that are only a few current releases that I really "need".
This is all a very good thing since I've purchased somewhere in the neightborhood of 100 DVD titles (counting boxed sets as 1) since around June. Preparing to survive on mac 'n cheese for a while.

I'm now broke so the lull is nice for me. The few titles I'm getting for Christmas will hold me over for awhile. I decided to cut back on the DVDs and upgrade to a 51" RPTV, a Hitachi 51S700. This should work out fine because I'm sure I'll want to rewatch all my DVDs on the new TV.

I bought 4 yesterday ($10 Stand by Me SE, CTHD, Darkness Falls SE, Donnie Brasko SE), picked up a prepaid preorder (Firefly), and bought three more today (Desperado/Mariachi for $16 and Escape from New York SE Preorder for ~$13). I plan to pick up Go if it's $7 at BBuy tomorrow
Overtime here I come!

37 DVD's in November is just insane. that's not even counting the other months. I've counted just 23 that I bought for Oct.-Dec. and that's including XFiles, Buffy, and Alien Quad. I too second the Disney Treasures delay, but would've like to have had them on time.
January we have:
American Wedding
Underworld
Freddy vs. Jason
Open Range
Star Trek VI
That's not bad. Now if we only had a Matrix Revolutions release date.

It's not difficult to go to import sites and spend like a fiend! I just dropped $250+ today on imports alone. My lull begins NOW though.. I SWEAR I'm not spending another dime until on DVDs until January 7th - the big Chiller / Fangoria Con in N.J. ... Jess Franco and Bill Lustig will be there...SWEET!
