As I recall, the dvd currently out had a slightly shorter nortan sex scene before the "curb job" scene that was longer in the VHS release..

Romper Stomper is a pretty good film as well, but I wouldn't say it's more powerful or better in any way than American History X. Just my opinion.

Speaking of Tony Kaye,whatever happened to the guy??Has he made any more movies???I remember at one point he wanted to make a sort of documentary of the whole American History X squabble w/ New Line,but i've never heard anything else about it.Has he been blacklisted by studios or something???Peace......

I think he's been blackballed by the industry. You don't sue the Director's Guild and a major studio for millions after your very first film and expect to ever work again. The last I heard about Kaye was that he was directing an acting workshop that Marlon Brando was putting on. Kaye and his friends were disruptive and causing problems with the workshop, and Kaye even showed up dressed like Osama Bin Laden for no reason one day (?). Brando eventually fired him.

The more the guy does, the more it seems that New Line probably just made the best of a bad situation.
