Schindler's List March 9th

Not sure if this is official or not, but Amazon has Schindler's List up for pre-order with the release date of March 9th

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...12QM8G/dvdtalk

Looks like it'll have 3 versions:

Widescreen: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...12QM8G/dvdtalk
Fullframe
Collector's Box :
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...12QM9K/dvdtalk

The widescreen version is up for pre-order at $18.99
Collector's Box: $55.99

There IS a trailer for it on the front of Seabiscuit which says 'Spring 2004' so I'd say March 9th would qualify

Let's hope Universal don't screw up this release like they've done so many others. E.T,Duel,Meaning Of Life etc...

$50.39 for the collectors set. This notice gives me time to save I have yet to watch it, so this will be a great way to see it for the first time.

For $50.39 that collector's set better have a Ralph Fiennes statuette.

I've found collector sets to be a great value. More than likely 50 years from now you can get the same or more from it (if you were to sell it).

I can just see myself: IRA? No, not I R A. D V D.

March would be a nice time for another 20% off code for DDD

I'm all over the gift set!

Yeah but this one's a tough watch because millions of innocents get killed and yet were supposed to feel "inspired" by the story of a man who saved less than a handful...courage is relative, millions of people looked the other way, and thousands more were directly involved in the atrocities...I dont think this film clearly reminds us enough of this fact.

I give Spielberg credit for introducing the nightmare of the Holocaust to the tens of thousands who werent aware of it (hard to believe but true) but if you knew or had studied the tragedy I dont think this film makes nearly as much impact...

As purchases go for Schindler's List I'll pass.

Schindler's List is inspiring in the same way The Pianist or Life is Beautiful is inspiring. During a time in history when millions were killed, there were little glimmers of hope with stories like Schindler's change of heart, Szpilman's strength, and Guido's humor. As someone with two sets of grandparents who survived Auschwitz and Plaszow, I cherish stories like these that remind us to believe in hope and the endurance of the human spirit. While it's not wholly accurate, it has an important message.

I, for one, am thrilled this is finally coming to DVD.

Hmm, no DTS listed. I don't think I can give up my DTS laserdisc for a non-DTS DVD.

Hmmm, wonder what's in that gift set. Excellent news regarding the release of this masterpiece. Ralph Fiennes' performance sent chills down my spine. Spielberg's directing was masterful. There are so many great things about this movie, very powerful. Must own for me.

This was announced on thedigitalbits.com rumormill on October 21, 2003:

This is a quick update to let you know that we heard an actual street for Universal's upcoming Schindler's List DVD. Word from retailers in the know is that Universal expects to release the DVD-18 disc on March 9th of next year. They've also been informed by the studio that The Sugarland Express and Duel will follow in 2004, so good news for you Spielberg fans.

Its a great movie. Does anyone know if it was filmed in 2.35:1 or 1.85:1? I've only seen it on P&S VHS.
