Red Dragon DVD differences

Normally, I would just compare the different DVD editions of a movie with the excellent DVD Talk reviews. However, I found the reviews for the different versions of Red Dragon to be rather lacking, at least in terms of what sets the two DVDs apart. It sounds to me like a fan of the film would want to purchase the more expensive "Director's Edition". But can anyone tell me how the two versions of Red Dragon differ? Thanks in advance.

Hmmm...thanks a bunch, guys. I appreciate it! After reading the supplied articles, I have to say that I'm inclined to purchase the "Director's Edition", since I am a fan of the Hannibal Lecter series. Plus, it sounds like the added features (except for Brett Ratner's student film, which apparently sucks) are worth the extra price tag.

And since I don't have a region-free DVD player as of yet, I'll stick with R1 for now. (Even though I am a big fan of DTS.)

I thought read that the isolated score was dropped for the DTS on those other versions?
