Smacks a bit of someone deliberately not posting this in the appropriate thread, in order to get maximum attention to his bragging...
It's going out of print December 31st. Who knows if it'll be a collector's item, it may or may not be. For ten bucks, take a chance on a critically acclaimed film that you may like very much.

3 yrs from now people will be seeking this out for the Sam Peckinpah material, if not the actual film (which still holds up).
Rights go over to MGM but i wouldn't expect them to do anything that would come close to the Criterion.

Collector's item it will be, however you have to realize that HUNDREDS of people are banking on that right now and speculating on a VERY LARGE number of these as we speak while it's still in print.
Alot of 5 at a time multiple purchases at DDD with this at $23 delivered figuring it'll sell for alot more next year.
I personally think this title has been overproduced and the market will saturate before the end of January. There's too many copies for lameass dealers to float up the price like they could with SALO.
Most people will not want to watch this a second time, even Peckinpah fans.

i believe that as well, however you should be able to get back $23 for it and certainly $9.99 if you decide to sell it off.
if i feel i can recoup 90% of the purchase price, i will ususally give something a shot.
i just had a few auctions close in the last couple of days and its amzing what sold, what didn't and how much a 'common' BB / CC title closed at vs something thats been out of print for over a yr.
still, in the case of Straw Dogs, its a great film, with some pretty timeless themes- the older i get, the more i appreciate and 'get' it.
