Naked Lunch, how is the DVD?

I already know the film is great, but how is the quality of the transfer, extras, etc?

A bunch of you must have picked this up already right?

TIA!

Transfer is A+

Commentary and documentary overlap a bit with certain info repeated, but both are excellent. Burroughs' readings are excellent. Essay's are good (even though I disagree with Gary Indiana's assesment.)

Great set, pick it up if you love Cronenberg.

Hendrik, unfortunately that wasn't a very good review. The guy obviously didn't like the film (or didn't understand it) and didn't say much about the DVD. Thanks for the effort though!

Pants, thanks! Were there any materials about Ornette Coleman or the soundtrack included in the extras?

I own it. Highly recommened. If you like the film, the Criterion release is mandatory. Enjoy.

*In this review, I think Chris Galloway really underestimates the extras on this set, which I think are copious & wonderful (particularly for a 12-year-old cult film with a limited audience).

Most dryest commentary ever.
Peter weller + cronenberg are very intelligent men.

The other extras... good.

No

But David Cronenberg discusses him a bit on the commentary.

You expected Hendrik to find a GOOD review?

I didn't expect anything of Hendrik because I don't know him/her

Thanks for all the comments!! I am definitely picking this up from DDD before tomorrow!

...erm... if I may make so bold as to link another review (of the movie, not the DVD) by another guy (who has on occasion been called "America's pre-eminent movie critic", no less!) who, apparently, "didn't like the film (or didn't understand it)"...
