Where's La Dolce Vita?!!!

Taken from: http://www.indiewire.com/biz/biz_030715koch.html

The company will release Federico Fellini's "La Dolce Vita" in a special remastered DVD edition of the original 1960 Italian version of the movie. It will be the first DVD release of the movie and will be in available in September.

The latest estimate is July, 2004.

It appears that Koch Lorber is having trouble getting off the ground. Not only did they miss the original street date for La Dolce vita by a mile, but in their first year of operation, I'm only aware of one DVD that they've released (The Ballad of Bering Strait, in May). Their website hasn't been updated in months.

Doesn't bode well.

I know they have a few releases due out in January including Patrice Chereau's INTIMACY and Diane Kurys' CHILDREN OF THE CENTURY starring Juliette Binoche. Both of these releases are supposed to be anamorphic. Koch Lorber has also decided to release the uncut, French theatrical version of "CHILDREN" instead of the shorter version that was released in the US. Apparently they're getting a few things right...

Their website is actually www.kochvision.com

wasn't this hinted at as a coming criterion?

I’m sure the companies behind the release of the R2UK and Italian Sp Ed releases would dispute that.

No, they don't have the rights.

There's a beautiful Region 2 PAL disc available in Italy, for those who are region-free.

Your info inspired me to catch up on Koch Lorber's previous and upcoming releases. The results are here. I don't dispute that Koch Lorber is a subsidiary of Koch Vision, but their actual website remains http://www.kochlorberfilms.com/ (the absolutely horrible Koch Vision home page still has a link to it)--they just haven't updated it in 7 months.

Personally, I'm underwhelmed by their upcoming releases, and wonder if they have a viable business plan. To my mind, this puts even more pressure on their eventual La Dolce vita release to be "definitive," to attract some attention to the label (certainly they've been keeping a very low profile so far).

Good film. I've had the Region 2 disc for a while now.
