So I'm assuming it's okay with terrell if the thread runs off course, but ONLY about positive lucasfilms issues right?

I'm obviously interested in discussing these DVDs, I've clicked into this forum didn't I? I'm just of the opinion that people can have their own opinion (positive or negative). So the guy thinks Lucas has no talent, who cares?!? There are many of us that don't agree, but we're not labeling his opinions as "dumb ass". That just you, and I swear every time a Star Wars thread war starts, it's Terrell who's right at the core of it.

Regarding the DVD boxset...has there been any press release about how these films will be released? I would be surprised if these films aren't released similar to the Indiana Jones set.

As of now it looks like they will be released individually. I am sure that they will also be in a box set too. The image at TDB was not the final art. and it even says so on the page. I am sure the final art will follow the design asthetics of eps 1+2, with a black background with gold lettering. They will probably use the 1997 A sheets for the art, or as someone said, photoshopped heads. The custom art that is floating around out there might be a sign of what is to come...

In Terrel's defense, there are several people who fnd any thread about SW and crap on it.

Don't know exactly how to put this, but you're absolutely wrong. Nothing like this ever happened. The original trilogy on radio, available on CD from Amazon.com (penned by Brian Daley, not Lucas, starring Mark Hamill in ANH & TESB and Anthony Daniels through the whole thing) had a slightly expanded storyline, but basically covered episodes 4, 5, & 6. The first two episodes of the Star Wars radio adaptation were all new stuff, but it was just the Luke/Biggs stuff on Tatooine and some stuff with Leia and how she got the stolen plans and what-not. Nothing whatsoever about episodes one, two, three, seven, eight, or nine.

It's interesting that you've even gone into detail about how different this imaginary radio series was to the new movies. I'm always suspicious of people being so adamant about something that's completely untrue. Did you actually hear this fictitious radio series, or did someone else assure you of your "facts?"

I'll give you extra points for originality, though. This is the first time I've heard this one. The one I hear all the time is that the current movies Lucas is making (I, II, & III) are all based on books that were written long ago and have been available in bookstores for many years. Can't tell you how many people have tried to assure me that this was the case.

Anyway, now you've got me thinking about that radio series again, and it reminds me how good the thing actually was. Daley really does a great job adapting the story for radio (not necessarily an easy thing to do), and does a pretty good job of answering some questions I'd always had regarding the OT, including C3P0 and R2D2 getting their memories erased, and the fact that the Empire doesn't even think to station anybody on Tatooine to capture Luke when he goes to rescue Han from Jabba the Hutt in ROTJ.

No no, this was a series for the BBC. There were nine one hour parts. I have most of it on cassette. As far as I know, no actors from the films appeared as voices. R2 and 3PO were the only characters in all nine parts.

The first two were about the clone wars (nothing at all like the second film, as Anakin and Obi-wan were fighting *against* the clones) and Ep. 3 ended with what I thought was a very cool lightsaber battle at the edge of a live volcano, into which Anakin fell, presumed dead (he was so badly injured that he needed the Vader suit to survive).

I could be wrong about Lucas penning it, although that's what I remember from the time. They do say "You're listening to Star Wars by George Lucas" but of course it could have been an adaptation by someone else.

I have never heard about any such stuff like that...and Im a fanatic and would have heard about it...all I know is that theres Radio Drama's of Ep4-6...

Agreed, I used to be very hardcore into SW, and I never heard about anything beyond the expanded stories of 4-6.

I honestly think you're remembering something you want to remember, or somebody gave you a very good "fanfilm" of sorts.

Speaking of which, are the radio play scripts available online (legally) or are they in some sort of book I can buy?

i have to agree too. i used to collect all things star wars and never heard of these. on a side note, i was reading some episode 3 stuff on theforce.net and it mentioned that on the back of the original packaging for storm trooper action figures (around the time of Empire), they mentioned a "back story" of what storm troopers were, where they came from, etc, and it more or less matched the story for Episode 2. kind of a neat tidbit i think.

Regarding that story /\ , there is a scan of a magazine from the early 80's (Time maybe?) that has this story. I saw it not too long ago, but can't remember where for the life of me. Theforce.net might have it in their tech commentaries. I might try to dig that up this weekend.

the disintrest of Lucas to address fundemental plot points like this is one of the things that marks ROTJ as profoundly cheapjack and piss-poor resolution to the 'saga', imo.

they were indeed expansions of 4,5 (didn't realize they made one for 6 but by that time Rotj was a big insult-see above- so i lost interest).

Can't remember exactly, but I remember that when they went to leave after rescuing Han, they were able to escape because the exposion of Jabba's barge created a distraction to the fleet of Imperial ships surrounding Tatooine.

Actually, I seem to remember that it took several years to get ROTJ made. I'm thinking that ANH & TESB were both made in oh, aobut 1981 or so, but that ROTJ wasn't made until the mid-90's. I could be way off on that.

Doesn't really matter, though, because jough is talking about some special radio series made by the BBC which only he has ever heard of.

Well, the Emperor does tell Vader upon his arrival at the 2nd Death Star not to go after Luke cuz eventually, he was gonna come to them. He had foreseen it.

yeah somewhere along the way the emperor decided it was no longer imperative that Luke not become a Jedi and so rather than easily catching him and more of the rebel command by surveiling their most obvious destination, the emperor reasigns the last Dark Lord Of The Sith to be a glorified construction foreman
