So, looks like it might be a single boxset vs individual releases.
I'm not sure I like the cover... maybe it's embossed or something similar.

the jacket designs of TPM and AOTC have already been established and this is meant to be consistent across the series of films.
2 discs in a 2 disc amray with gold lettering, photoshoped faces, and episode # on the spine.
there is absolutely no way this will be a 3 movie digi-pack release.
tho they propably will have both a slipcased box set and the indivual releases.
the SEs are fantastic! i don't know why anybody would not love them.
they are an attempt to make all three films hew more closely to the filmmaking asthetic established in Return Of The Jedi and furthered in the prequels.
the woefully, painfully obvious extended cgi drive-in to Mos-Eisley, complete with a knee slappingly hilarious bit of slapstick with a Ronto and a wholly unneccesary scene with Jabba relating to the audience the exact same information Greedo had ijust a scene or two before...these are the hallmarks of that filmmaking Genius who clearly found his 'voice' with Return of the Jedi.
yes, i was being sarcastic.
it's sad as i wouldn't be quite so snobbish about the SEs if he had only stuck to 'slight enhancements' of certain shots.
i can live with a more lively cgi dogfight, i can live with cgi dewbacks in the background, i can live with a new establishing shot of a sandcrawler, and i can live with open windows on Bespin.
its the material that was WISELY and TASTEFULLY excised in their original release that is what degrades the SEs, imo.
the scene between Jabba and Han serves no purpose and is poor storytelling in that it only conveys redundant information.
fanboys love it because they've seen the film a million times and its finbally something new to get excited about.
that doesn't change the fact that it takes a film that was tight and efficent originally and now makes it lumpy and fatty.
same with the cgi drive in to ME.
like edge enhancement on a dvd, it just doesn't NEED to be there, and the cgi meshes poorly with the live action.
i don't think these will be the exact same cuts of the film as seen in '97.
i'm sure there will be a few tweaks here and there.
but since this is the same person who concluded the series with that retarded turd know as ROTJ and then started to craft the prequels in it's image (until everyone started mocking him re: Lloyd , Jar-Jar, and his other lame decisions) , i've lost all hope of seeing "better' cuts of these films ever.
just crap...but it will be slightly newer crap, which means the fanboys who can't seem to honestly evaluate the merits of these films will still be happy.

I wouldn't go by that picture, because they did a similar thing with Indiana Jones, just put up a generic poster shot well before the official artwork was released.

Anyway, after Lucas is dead someone with talent could make them. They already have those radio scripts to work from.

What a completely dumbass, stupid statement. And I hate to tell you this, but there are many ignorant people just like you who think Star Wars immediately becomes public property once Lucas dies. I hate to tell you, it doesn't. The copyrights that are owned by Lucas are good for the rest of his life, plus 70 years. So keep fantasizing.

From: You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
There was a Star Wars radio show penned by Lucas back in the mid-80s that contained all nine episodes.
So far the first two haven't really followed the radio show at ALL, but we'll have to see if Obi-Wan and Anakin/Vader have a final showdown at the mouth of an active volcano.

I think these films should be released like the Alien Quadrilogy set, I think a seven DVD set with the special editions and the original films on the first six DVDs and the extras on a seventh.

Now, as per your suggestion, the DVDs are not being released in a box set at all. They are being released individually. I assume you are talking about the DVDs coming next year. They are not in a box set.
As for the eventual box set, who knows what Lucas has in mind. That would be nothing more than speculation at this point.
I agree with Gatsby's post. As long as Star Wars I and II are not included in the set.

How long, exactly, do you imagine it takes someone to rattle off a list of changes and send a group of people off to work on them?
ILM is not only working on Episode III, but they are also working on numerous other films and their effects. ILM works on as many as a dozen films a year, and it would be them that would have to make the changes. As I said earlier, the DVDs that are released next year will be either the originals, or more likely the '97 Special Editions. There's no way they will be the new cuts with all of those changes. That list was nothing more than a fanboy wishlist. Is it possible there will be some minor tweaks and changes on the 2004 DVDs? Sure. But not the list of changes we saw. I'd say count on the '97 SEs.

In all honesty, while I would much prefer the originals, if we get the 97 SE's, I would be relatively happy. There weren't that many changes. I remember seeing them in the theater when they came out in 1997 thinking, "ok, what's the big deal with SE -- I don't see that much done to them here." Yes, the Greedo shooting first and Luke yelling is dumb, but I could live with everything else if this is the best we can get. That one list with tons of changes scares me though (morphing Christian Hayden's face onto Anakin in Jedi, etc.).
