funny man, i'm expecting 2 discs from Netflix that has been 3 days overdue. i live in a area of townhomes and condos, so my mailbox is right next to my door, i left for thanksgiving so i got back on sunday...mail looks OK considering my issue of Playboy was there.
what is suspicious is that i haven't had a lost disc in over a year and last year around this time, i had to declare 3 discs lost, 2 i received and sent back but they never got and one never came to me....hmmm....holidays??

I'm sleepy so I didn't read any of the other posts...

But I've recieved someone elses Net Filx movies twice in the last six months. I just put them in the mail box so that they will hopefully be delivered to the right person. But if this has happened to me twice, I can imagine that many of these suckers just aren't being delivered.

In two years of belonging to Netflix, I've had three discs get lost in the mail after I mailed them back. One of them found their way back to Netflix.

Once, when I was driving past the mailboxes at the post office to drop my movies off, I looked on the ground and there was someone else's movie that didn't make it into the mailbox. The package was all shredded cause it had been driven over several times but the disc was fine. I brought it home, e-mailed Netflix and they told me to put it in the mail with my next return.

Only had 1 netflix DVD missing (receiving) in the past 6 months and I think the post office lost it in the sorter. In the City, if you own a home, the mail slots are one with the garage door, none of this out in the middle of the street, come steal my mail crap boxes. And since the postal blue drop bin's just across the street at the corner (no more than 30 steps from my door), there's really no chance of freaks stealing my shit.

And please, for those suspecting postal guy stealing your shit, there's a mail theft division you can call at the central post office. You can also report this to the local authorities. Mail theft is a real crime. So's neighborhood kids climbing into my back yard, in which case I bring out the 12-gauge and smoke 'em in the ass, but that's another story.

Like someone suggested, if you got one of them outside, hit me w/ a bat mail boxes, and keeps getting your shit stolen, get a freaking surveillance camera.

A camera isn't going to do most people much good. I doubt many people can recognize every kid in the neighborhood by a picture. Catching them in the act would be fun but the odds of that aren't great either.

I'm just trying to find a drop box between here and my work that's easy to get to. I'm still pissed just on principle though. I'd like to catch the bastard and beat him senseless (kid or not).

Who says you have to recognize the theif? If you catch someone on camera stealing your mail, just give the video to the police. Chances are they are stealing more than just your mail.

In some cases just having a camera visible at the front door could be a deterrent if your mailbox is nearby.

Now I'm wondering if I can just take mailbox that's out by the curb down and mount one on the wall by the front door. That would at least make it more difficult and risky to steal something out of it.
You definitely should report the thefts because the postal service will eventually put Postal Inspectors on your case. It is a Federal offense.

In the meantime can't you just drop them off at the Post Office?
