The only one I have is "Life of Birds" and it is truly amazing. I actually bought it as a blind buy and I couldn't be more impressed with it. There simply isn't another narrator like David Attenborough and this is one of his best. I have all of "The Blue Planet" and all of the "Walking With" collection as well. Definitely some of the best DVD money I have spent.
The content is superb. The only negative I would give it is the video transfer which truly isn't that great. Otherwise, two thumbs up.

Winged Migration is very lacking in content. I saw it in the theatre, and it was amazing. The photography is nothing short of stunning. Seeing the birds sixty, seventy, and eighty feet long was quite beautiful. But that's all. This was a movie that everyone should have seen in the theatre, and will certainly not be the same experience viewing it at home. Since you are talking about a home viewing format, I can't recommend it for more than a rental.

Both of these would be wonderful additions to your library. The Life of Birds is much more informative and expansive,of course, but Winged Migration was a must-buy for me. Beautiful video and soundtrack and many extras. The documentary takes some of the mystery and awe out of the experience, but that in itself adds to the quality of the dvd.

I enjoyed Winged Migration. It's anamorphic, too, so that's a plus. I was planning to get Birds but it is full frame so I changed my mind.

Back to the question and just re-iterating what others have already said..can't go wrong with either.
