Romper Stomper

Today I was at K-Mart and saw two versions of the Russell Crowe movie Romper Stomper. I knew that the 2 Disc version was out of print, but they had a Fox disc ($8.99) and a Lion's Gate disc ($4.99). Wasn't sure which to get, so I got them both, which the intention of returning one of them.

Which one would you guys keep? Keep in mind that I've never seen the movie and that money isn't a deciding factor.

If so...this movie is right up your aisle

The 2 disc is OOP? Glad I got it when I did then.

If you bought this movie for Russel Crowe then you are in for a surprise lol. Great movie though, best movie he did IMO.

I happen to find the soundtrack to this movie utterly hilarious. It is just so absurd and catchy.

#1- What the hell is a "Biggit"?

#2- Why are you attempting to slur him by calling him a "Nazi" just because he buys a movie dealing with the subject of Skinheads? It's a movie..get over it!

It's funny, your sig says "There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." I suppose you don't consider being conditioned to react in that manner when somebody brings up a subject that the egalitarian, politically correct powers that be don't approve of a "mental illness".

Well, I'm sure you're real proud of yourself & think you made a statement, but to those of us that know you look ridiculous & pathetic. My suggestion to you is to read Orwell's 1984 and look at the similarities.

If this post happens to disappear...you know why.

Contrary to popular belief, the movie isn't pro-nazi/skinhead whatever. Not to spoil it for anyone wishing to watch it, but they all get their just desserts by the end of the movie. Plus it features an amazing performance by Russell Crowe, it's what got him noticed in America and was the reason they hired him for L.A. Confidential.

In regards to the soundtrack, I think the liner notes speaks for itself :

Regarding this soundtrack : Part of this extraordinary and award winning film score includes examples of that obscure musical genre known as "Oi". They have been placed here, with their racist lyrics intact, in the context of the other compositions constituting Romper Stomper's aural heart of darkness. It would be desirable to ask the listener to accept the Oi songs in the same way as they'd accept a grisly item in a museum. Unfortunately, however, the hatred and despair that generated the original modes is not a relic of history but a part of the here and now. - Geoffery Wright, director

Yeah, I always found the music catchy, despite its hateful lyrics. Almost makes you feel bad for nodding your head along..

And I would agree -- I never saw this movie as pro-neo nazi.

I love the last shot of this film.
I've got the 2-disc set which is notorious for having very little on the 2nd disc.
I would think the Lion's Gate would be fine,but it's a guess.
