i don't mind the tapes, but it irks me when i try to pick them off carefully and i end up getting a little dent or stretch on the plastic covering on the case.

They're now putting a fourth security sticker on some discs, right on the bottom of the disc so that even if thieves can open the case and steal the discs out of them they still can't play them.

I heard they are now putting this coating on DVDs that makes the disc useless by the time the thieves get the stolen discs home.

They are not theives, they deserve having the DVD.

1. They saw the ads on TV and on the Internet
2. They paid for the movie once at the theater
3. It is not a movie they would have bought anyways
4. They are only going to watch it once
5. The studios are making to much money on the movie anyways
6. They are not hurting anyone
7. It will be on TV some time in the future, so it is ok to get it now
8. What is one disk...they studio builds in the cost of people stealing DVDs

At my local BestBuy, there were several accused shoplifters nailed to wooden posts outside the door with razor sharp DVD-shaped blades sticking out of their heads. The fourth security sticker is a tripwire for a deadly trap straight out of HELLRAISER XII.

throw the sticker haters in with the no-insert, double-dip, snapper and big, floating head cover crowd. just another thing that I can deal with.... without much frustration.

At my best buy there is lethal sarin gas inside the dvd case and the only way to open it without dying a horrible painful death is by takeing it to the counter to pay for it where they have a special machine to suck out all the gas.

Talk about over kill you have those three security tapes places around the outside of the keepcase and then on the inside is the security device and it's sometimes attached to the dvd itself making it a pain to remove I wish they would come up with something better than this.

Who cares... The only thing that bugs me is when you take the tape off and the darn glue is left behind on the plastic...

Pisses me off

all you have to do:

get a pocket knife/blade. slice down the middle on all 2 or 3 and pull the case apart. then grip the thief-tape and pull back gently. it comes right off 99% of the time. you guys are workin' too hard on this stuff. also, use a little lighter fluid and a cottonball to rub off residue. ezee, peezee....japaneasy.

I always thought it was the store who put in the side and bottom security stickers. Oh well.

I guess that would also mean each store would have their own shrink wrap machine too. Not too plausible .. oh well.

It could be worse. They could put them in the plastic cases that they use with portable elctronics like cd players. Sometimes I swear I need a blowtorch to open the bloody things. I'll settle for a few stickers to pull off

It bums me out that only one of the stickers says "Pull".

All you need to do to get the residue off is just use the removed security tape and blot the remaining glue until it's all gone. Takes a few seconds, and can't be any simpler or cleaner...

You have to "push" on the other two.

usually kids with no money, but there's always the occasional rat bastitch who's just too cheap to spend $10-20. stores just have to treat Joe Public like a child and tag everything.

Either that or all of your inports are bootlegs (they don't have security stickers either) . . .

Aw, c'mon now . . . cut 'em some slack . . . they're just poor college students who have to split their spending between DVD's, video games, beer, going out with friends, fast food, new designer clothes . . . You can't expect them to pay for everything . . .
