U2 Go Home impressions
I have to say this disc was a pleasant surprise --- in a lot of ways it was what the "Elevation" DVD should have been, but wasn't:
Anamorphic widescreen, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 soundtracks, plus an uncompressed PCM stereo track.
There are a handful of extras, but by far the best is the original 1984 documentary of the recording of "The Unforgettable Fire." I can finally retire my nearly 20-year-old VHS version!
Oh, and this particular show was a great one.
I'm eager to read what everyone else who picked this up thinks.

I too will pick it up on your recommendation...huge U2 fan here.
I almost bought it today, but checked the track listing and wasn't all that excited about some of the newish songs on their--i.e. "Walk On," and "Stuck in a Moment"

I have already watched this 3 times, the audio and video quality are excellent, and U2's performance is outstanding. The crowd was amazing aswell, at the beginning of elevation, it doesn't look like there is a single person not jumping up and down.
The setlist is also very good, i can't imagine someone not liking the new songs unless you just aren't familar with them. Walk on, especially live is one of u2's best songs.
Out of Control is also a highlight, I won't give much away, in case you haven't seen the show.

And for anyone who hasn't seen the 30-minute "Unforgettable Fire" documentary, it's a real treat to see how songs are shaped during the recording process. A lot of time in the documentary is spent on "Pride (In the Name of Love)", and it's fascinating to hear all the different directions the song could have gone in before it arrived in the form we all know.

I've been a long time U2 fan (well relatively ever since War came out) but sorta been out of it since the last 3 albums (although I did like the last album). The fact this concert took place in Ireland, the set list, and the DTS soundtrack convinced me to pick this one up. Great concert, great performance, and the group particularly Bono still knows how to connect with the crowd. And more importantly a great U2 audience, much like the audience from Under a Blood Red Sky at Red Rocks but much bigger.
I only wish they performed the song "The Unforgettable Fire" since it is quite possibly my favorite U2 song and esp. because of where they were. I'm sure if they did I would have been bawling like a little baby. Anyways, I'm glad I picked it up to recall their old glory. "Out of Control" was indeed a very welcome tune to hear again.

I will be adding this DVD to my collection this Friday. You can count on that. I'm looking forward to see how the large crowd reacts.
One thing I would like to ask. Is the bands performance better here, than on the "Elevation" DVD?

That being said, absolutely fantastic. Bring on "PopMart Mexico", "ZooTV Sydney," and "Under A Blood Red Sky." I also wouldn't mind seeing their '93 performance in Ireland (8/28) released as well.
