I can't believe that no one has suggested you get KISS ME KATE. "Kiss Me Kate" is a Cole Porter musical whose plot is framed around a musical production of Taming of the Shrew.
Great score and some great performances – almost every number's a show stopper. Anne Miller (who you may have seen in Mulholland Drive; she played the landlady!) is at her best. Her number "Too Darn Hot" is the strongest I think she ever did.
Bob Fosse is also in the film as one of the three suitors. He performs the first choreography he ever did for film in "From This Moment On." Watching him alongside the other two suitors really made me realize what a gift he had for dance and movement.
Very well worth the $15 or $20 at Best Buy. Do yourself a favor and pick it up (along with the Singing In The Rain SE). You'll thank me later.
I'd also suggest the original Music Man.

The 1974 Waner Bros musical Mame with Lucille Ball and Bea Arthur, and Robert Preston is long overdue on DVD does anyone know when it will receive a release on this format?
